That defies logic.You can't honestly tell me that Bill Roache or Rupert Murdoch are better picks than Gianluca Vialli and Johnnie Irwin just because they are elderly?

I have a feeling the committee won't pick Irwin but I could be wrong.I was surprised they picked Johhny Clegg,Bill Gates Sr , Errol Christie and Gord Downie.

Definitely Rolf Harris.Whilst Woodward is a must have return I think she could be placed lower in the top 10 considering other very worthy names such as George Alagiah , Frank Field ,Pervez Musharraf, Pope Benedict and Jimmy Carter.She is however an excellent pick and would be staggered if she didn't return fairly high up

Pele , Vialli and Whale should all be in the top 3 if they make it.

True they were more famous overall but being a top footballer and subsequent manager puts you out there to a very wide audience.A bit like Wilko Johnson I guess.A legend renowned in his field deservedly so made number 1 even though he was beyond the household name threshold albeit very notable and close to that category .I would put Vialli in the same category except unlike Wilko if Vialli makes number 1 he will almost certainly due and very early on in the year.

I mean he is am international star and a Chelsea legend.He isn't as big as Messi ,Pele, Ronaldo etc but I would say he is a big enough name. The DL used to put obvious picks at number 1 such as Lou Rawls and Etta James but has gone for generic old celebrities at the top which I think is a missed opportunity. That being said there are many great choices for the top spot.Carter seems the obvious due to his fame level extreme old age and the fact he has surpassed all prior expectations and is now not up to being interviewed. Then there is Pele.A global icon and near dead cert if he makes it or James Whale who is riddled with cancer and clearly ailing fast whilst not forgetting Rolf Harris who seems a highly likely hit and a massive name.Also Pope Benedict is increasingly resembling a corpse so might be deserving of that top spot also. I am just hoping it isn't Kissenger , Van Dyke , or Bob Barker as they are simply old as opposed to gravely ill.
