Parliament is full of unlikeable people of dubious motivations and probably always was.

Also he retired from the House of Lords a couple of years ago at a relatively young age by house of lords standards.

In 2015 he suffered septic shock and liver and kidney failure.Certainly one to keep a close eye on.
