Well a turkey won't vote for Christmas that's what it comes down to and the way our system works there is no precedent for a GE with a change of leader.In fact even under a presidential system there isn't either except one can argue the VP is actually on the ticket but we only elect our MPs and not the PM unless we live in their constituency.

Frank Field, Baron Field of Birkenhead turns 80 today. Best known as the Birkenhead MP for Labour from 1979 until he became in independent in 2018 due to anti semitic losing his seat to Labour the following year. He was briefly a Minister under Blair but was a very Independently minded MP. Not a post I expected to make given his illness.
