I wonder when ITV will announce their line up.
-
Another incredible tantrum comes from the most marginal Conservative MP James Daly who despite being Deputy Chairman is accused of being broke and of not understanding the detail of the National Service policy. Let's just say he doesn't disappoint with this meltdown. He has a 105 vote majority.
-
He did this interview yesterday.Looks totally rattled tired and is even ruder and snappier than usual. This is golden his stress is palpable and it is so good to watch.Need popcorn.
-
I think they get paid a healthy redundancy pay if they lose their seats don't they?
-
Yeah Lib Dems had the seat back in 2010 and regularly poll second.I find it interesting they criticise her for being "too focused on being a minister" as if being committed to your ministerial brief is a bad thing.Speaks volumes.
-
CCHQ have "accidently" sent a memo calling out several MPs for nor being committed to campaigning. Those named are Steve Baker, Sarah Atherton, Mary Robinson,Johnny Mercer and Rebecca Pow.All set to lose.Wonder if this will push some of them to just say "fuck it" and stand down. All of them almost certain to lose seats barring a miracle anyhow which probably is why they are struggling to give a shite.

It's back and bigger than ever.Back with your new host Sean who has very big shoes to fill after Bibliogryphons tenure which I think we can all applaud. On to the rules: Pick 65 (1/10) of the 650 members of parliament elected on 12 th December. During the next parliament you will score the following for: -Death while in seat_ 30 points _Resignation for criminal activity -20 points -Non criminal resignations -10 points (Reduced to 5 if the candidate stands in the by election and wins) -Correctly predicted by elections that wipe out a government majority 25 (Increased to 50 if the government collapses as a result) -Unique picks :10 points Ebtries open 13th December 12:00 GMT and end on 31st December 2019 at 23:59 GMT Good luck everyone.

Careful he might lamp you one if he hears.
-
Barbara Keeley also standing down.Previously fought breat cancer in 2019.At 72 though she may well just be ready to retire. John Spellar also standing down.77 in August so not a huge surprise.First elected on the same day as Harriet Harman in 1982.

Depends who the first woman to get the title is.If they are a traditionalist they may be OK with being called father of the house however someone less traditional may want to change it .
-
Unless the mother of the house was the longest serving continuous MP presumably?
-
Kevan Jones who is stepping down due to treatment for an ongoing health issue which sounds slightly ominous is another one to keep an eye on.

Trying to decide on what names should qualify for Portillo Moment points on my upcoming election night game. These are the names I have.Tjoughts welcome. Tory: Rishi Sunak Oliver Dowden Jeremy Hunt James Cleverley Penny Mourdaunt Grant Shapps Kemi Badenoch Suella Braverman Iain Duncan Smith Jacob Rees_Mogg Liz Truss Priti Patel Therese Coffey David Davis Steve Barclay Labour: Keir Starmer Angela Rayner Rachel Reeves David Lammy Yvette Cooper Emily Thornberry Angela Eagle Chris Bryant Ed Miliband John McDonnell Diane Abbott (If Labour allow her to stand not if she stands as an Independent like Corbyn) Liberal Democrats: Ed Davey SNP Stephen Flynn DUP: Gavin Robinson Speaker: Lindsay Hoyle Names I excluded and why: Richard Holden (Current Tory chair would be big news for political fanatics but most people don't know who he is) George Galloway (Loses elections regularly a big best but not a shock to anyone) Jonathan Gullis (Almost certain to lose and hardly a big beast) Alex Chalk (Almost certain to lose and is not a household name despite his role) Lee Anderson (Would say recognisable enough name and face but does anyone think he could possibly win? ) Jeremy Corbyn (Massive name but as an independent a loss is not unexpected ) Sir Peter Bottomley (Big name and would be a big hit but wouldn't be headline grabbing I feel) Dame Andrea Jenkyns (Not big enough name) Steve Baker (His seats as good as gone and his profile not as high as other Brexiteers Luke IDS) Mark Francois (Won't lose his seat almost certainly and not a big enough figure (not in terms of physicality obviously) Open to interpretations of these judgements.

Although the constituency is quite interesting as it's main challenger the SNP are having their own electoral issues.
-
I doubt he will keep the seat even if he does stand.
-
I read a rumour that you have to have your current address on photo ID.Assuming that's fake news?
-
I will have to take your word on that one!

Volunteering is great.I did it as a youngster and it did me good but the clue is in the name .Forcing people to work for free when they aren't being punished would get taken to court pretty quickly. I was just flabbergasted they referred to it as volunteering. That takes the post truth world to a new dimension.
-
I nearly threw my slippers at the TV throughout that interview.Dont know who annoyed me more The Right Dishonorable James Stupidly of (lacking a) Braintree or Kuenssberg.
-
I didn't say it was a good strategy they should use but not as unpopular as national service is.
-
Calling for the reintroduction of the death penalty according to polling would be more popular than national service by quite a margin.
-
Looked at the Daily Mail comments which is I'm sure where the morons in power would expect some positivity but nope saying all the same things on here and more.
-
It's to shore up the Tory old guard who they fear will go to reform like they did with UKIP years ago. Many tory headbangerss will like this but I doubt it will be enough to stop them deserting.Seems like a last ditch attempt to keep the traditional Tory voters on side.A bit of red meat.I sincerely doubt it will do any good politically at all.
-
Also how will they enforce this? Most people will opt for the committee service and just not turn up for what is essentially unpaid work. Will the government prosecute these "deserters" and send them to community service in the same place they dodged community service?
-
It will poll well with a fair few boomers and silent generations and potential deserters to reform but it strikes as not that popular overall.Young people will hate it and most people as it has already established on here will see it as an expensive distraction to Rishi's failed 5 pledges. He doesn't have the approval ratings or goodwill of the public to get credit for being bold.Plus yeah parents won't like the undertones of this.
