For what it's worth Cousy had this to say back in June prior to the NBA finals:

This might be just me and not being in death pooling very long, but it seems there is a larger number of people this year then last that I have been putting on a watch list because they recently have been diagnosed with cancer, or some other grave illness.  Then you have the hard decisions whether to put them on a list this year, or you think they can wait a year or two. My shadow list for instance seems to have a majority of older people with sprinkling here and there of sick people.  But I might have a significant amount of sick people next year looking at my long list

He was quite involved in presenting sections of the 1964 General Election broadcast and reported on the 1956 Ashes. Pretty much the last person involved with both of those.
