I’d say within the UK she is more famous than several other Uk only names who have made the list over the years.

Easily.Unquestionably a household name in the UK for several decades.

A name I imagine that if you are British and over 25 you almost definitely know instantly but if you are outside the UK probably not at all.

Always good to make a thread for someone who has explicitly said they're stepping away from public life, so there's no news to post in it between the thread opening and their death a few years later.

Not necessarily. She has been out of the spotlight for years so I can't see there was a pressing need to announce this.If she does work with the Alzheimers Society as stated she could go down the Barbara Windsor route of raising awareness.Similarly with Linda Robson being very much still in the public eye may offer updates.

Will there be a bulletin every month almost certainly not but I doubt she will never be referenced until her death. It is to be expected that there won't be regular updates but she is one to keep an eye on.Diagnosed 4 years ago and things must have progressed for her husband to suddenly make an announcement.Cant see she was booked or expected to be working on any projects in the future.

She's never been in films, that's why. Pretty much exclusively TV and stage work.

Most people will know her from Birds Of a Feather, a long-running sitcom, which doesn't display her range.  She played an absolute blinder as a convicted murderer in a mini-series called The Sculptress some years ago. It was an eye-opener compared with her comic role in BOAF.

She was also brilliant in her stint on Emmerdale some years ago as Hazel Rhodes the mother of a young man who opted for euthanasia after being paralysed from the neck down.I think that role really showed her range as an actress too.

She has been running her drama school’s behind the scenes up until now but I’m not sure people would have informed the press if she had just quietly left that. She has never been one comfortable with the limelight through - stage fight meant she did little theatre and she hated TV interviews due to nerves,

Linda Robson is going to speak about it on Loose Women at some point soon but is currently away on Holiday so couldn’t today. They said she had known for sometime (Wouldn’t be surprised if many people who know Linda Robson have also kniwn for some time as she admits she is bad at keeping secrets.)
