Here are a few famous people who died from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease.

Hollywood Actress, Rita Heywood, died May 14th, 1987 at age 68.

Boxer, Sugar Ray Robinson, died April 12th, 1989 at age 67.

Former Mobster turned informant and author of the book “the Last Mafioso”, Jimmy “The Weasel” Fratianno, died June 30th, 1993 at age 79.

Former US. Republican Senator, Barry Goldwater, died May 29th, 1998 at age 89.

American Singer, Perry Como, died May 14th, 2001 at age 88.

Former U.S. President, Ronald Reagan, died June 5th, 2004 at age 93.

Former British Prime Minister, Sir Winston Churchill, died January 24th, 1965 at the age of 90 from a stroke, but some believe that it was a result of Alzheimer’s disease. It is still a matter of debate though.

I hope that helps.

Taking Churchill as an example, there are many people who suffer from Alzheimers, but it would not be considered the cause of death.

The end stage, where physical control is so reduced that swallowing becomes difficult or impossible is the point where it would be considered the cause of death.

Here's a link to a site someone has already researched, although cannot confirm the accuracy of all examples (particularly the historical ones)..

Alzheimers
