Captain Peter Townsend

Recommended Posts

Watched a programme about Princess Margarets' lover Captain Peter Townsend last night. Is he dead? If not, does he warrant a consideration for 2006?

He died many years ago I believe. But Mags'eventual husband, Lord Snowdon, should be considered.

Unable to find the evidence but I think he is 'late' - if not, he would be about 100 years old by now.

Here comes another Royal scandal.

There are claims that Princess Margaret and Capt. Townsend had a secret love child. The love child: Charles Duff, the adopted son of the socialite former owners of the Faenol Estate.

This is the funny part. If is not Margaret's and Peter's - its former prime minister Anthony Eden's and his adoptive mother's.

I'm hoping Eden because I can't be arsed with another Royal scandal.

I' guessing you meant "What? I just saw him live in concert".

You must be talking of another Townsend.

Even if you had just come out a fifteen year coma, I doubt you would see this man on stage.

Capt. Townsend was Equiry to King George VI (if my memory is correct) and fancy man to H.R.H the late Princess Margaret.

You see, Windsor...it was a joke.

For what it's worth, Peter Townsend's rank was "Group Captain" (equivalent to Colonel), and I don't think he could sing a note.

He couldn't have died in 1995- I looked after him in a London hospital in 2001. He died later that year or early 2002.

It's the Daily Mail you want, not us.

Lord Stevens reports on Thursday. With no more Diana conspiracies (haha) they'll be short of a few hundred front pages...
