95% of lung cancer patients die apparentely..and Jennings has been feeling unwell for months so it seems he may have left it a bit late to try and stop it.Id advise putting him on the 2006 deathlist, but sadly i dont think he'l even make it that far..he might just have weeks to go :referee:

I just checked a couple of medical websites and they said that in the 60 – 69 year age group of men with lung cancer, approximately 24% survive up to 1 year with chemotherapy treatment and 6% are still alive after 5 years. The mortality rate is very high because it is not usually diagnosed until it is in an advanced stage. Peter Jennings is 66 years old and has been ill for months and is just about to start chemotherapy treatment. Taking these factors into account, he would be a good bet on the 2006 deathlist if he survives this year.

Could be, there's no smoke without fire, or fags of course.

Jennings is one guy I never would have pegged as a smoker. As sick as he supposedly is, I'd say however he is an even bigger possibility to die this year than Walter Cronkite.

It's been almost 2 weeks since Jennings anouncement and he has not been back on. There's been a sub every night. Could he be nearing the end?

From everything we've seen and heard Peter Jennings must be declining rapidly. He has not been back since his anouncement and that broadcast was very bad with his voice sounding like it did and he even looked very pale. It doesn't look good and news of his death wouldn't surprise me.

Peter Jennings, is the most distinguished and humble Anchor that television around the world has ever had. I dont speak for anyone else, rather these are my feelings, when I heard this news I was very heart broken for two reasons one is that my father was recently diagnosed with Luekimia, then when Peter Jennings announced his illness it saddened me also. My father was given a very short life span also but we have faith in God and God writes our final chapter. So we stay positive and accept what is happening to us.

I would like to ask people to find it in there heart to say anything positive to a person who is going through a literal fight for his life and other people who are experiencing this in or around there lifes. Thank You and God Bless to whom ever is reading this. God Speed Peter.

Peter Jennings had his 67th birthday on Friday, July 29th.

ABC News Sends Birthday Banner to Jennings

ABC News colleagues on Friday sent a plane with birthday greetings over the home of Peter Jennings, who hasn't been seen on the air since announcing on April 5 that he had lung cancer.

His co-workers also taped birthday greetings sent via e-mail and viewers also participated in a "virtual birthday party" over the Web, the network said.

Jennings responded by sending ice cream to "World News Tonight" staffers and calling in his thanks, a spokeswoman said. He also posted a message of thanks to viewers wishing him a happy birthday on ABC's message board.

"Your words — as always — are a great source of strength," Jennings wrote.

Don't see the connection. I can't remember last time I anchored a news bulletin, but I'm nowhere near dying, thank you very much.

They dont seem to be releasing much on his condition. I read an article a few weeks back saying he was much thinner with a hoarse voice.

Anyone else have the latest?

Latest?

From what i know Peter Jennings has "INOPERATABLE" Lung

Cancer which pretty much means your days are numbered.

Why is there no latest? Sadly because Peter Jennings is

dieing and he has no where to go but down. It's just going

to be silent on his condition and when you finally hear something

it will be that he is in his last phases of his life.

"If he's not in them allready" :)

A supermarket tabloid (while not the most credible source) is reporting this week that Jennings is near death with only 4-6 weeks left to live.

Wow! Thanks for the update, big shame about this news about Pete. That's going to push him well up the list to make him a top choice on my Rotten.com dead pool team I'm entering on the 1st of September. That is if he still hangs on till then!
