All good.  Like I said, I almost started a thread and I think one would be relevant as science slowly undermines the 'safe alternative'.   Would be fun to track historically from where we are now, imho.

A "virtual" tour of the London Necropolis (Brookwood Cemetery), via zoom, 14th April, £3.00 (despite Falsebook saying its free). I'm tempted.

Anyone at a loose end on Tuesday evening?

This year's Brighton Festival seems to have a bit of a deathy theme this year (appropriate during a global pandemic).

and there's the odd birthy bit (Though maybe only of interest to Gooseberry Crumble)

The practice of Momento Mori is…. alive and well?

Former punk rocker turned nun is seeing that it is.

MEMento, not MOMento.

I don't understand why so many people spell "memento" wrong.  Unless you have a very bad MEMory it should be easy to reMEMber the correct spelling.

Women are more likely to die if their surgeon is male:

Hm, so who is operating on Khaleda Zia?

What an absurd story/study.

I won’t begin to dismantle and discredit it unless asked to fill in the grey matter gaps for one of you.

For starters: Is there a list of what ‘surgeries’ were performed by these groups of surgeons?  Wouldn’t that be of primary relevance?

Yes, they controlled for type of surgery. That was my first thought as well, but it seems they took that into consideration.

Movie review of "The Cancer Conflict" - a documentary about two people with cancer, one fighting it with "official" science, the other one fighting it with alternative methods:

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2022/sep/13/the-cancer-conflict-review-poignant-documentary-on-alternative-cancer-therapies

It has apparently been in the making for 5 years: https://icrowdnewswire.com/2016/11/16/cancer-conflict-feature-documentary-trust-life-line/

And the scientific case, a film producer named Grant Branton, died pretty quickly: https://www.promonews.tv/news/2016/02/16/grant-branton-1962-2016/39476

Can't find anything on quick notice on the alternative case, unfamous person Surinder Paul.

Branton had stage 4 colon cancer though that had spread to the bones, whereas Surinder Paul "only" had breast cancer.

Not sure where to drop this, but the Facebook group “World Pancreatic Cancer Day” is…

…In honour of #WomensHistoryMonth, every day this week we will be sharing the story of a woman whose life was affected by #pancreaticcancer.

I find the write-ups quite interesting.
