Lady Die 63 Posted August 16, 2005 A surprising number of Major plane crashes considering how safe air travel is supposed to be. I notice they didn't list the 9/11 crashes Glad I'm not planning to fly anywhere in the near future.
Teddy 21 Posted August 16, 2005 A surprising number of Major plane crashes considering how safe air travel is supposed to be. I notice they didn't list the 9/11 crashes They are probably under the belief that all these crashes, as opposed to 9/11 (or 11/9 for those of us who do these things correctly) which was deliberate. But we know better, don't we Mr Bin Liner...

It was very considerate of the London suicide bombers to choose 7/
Teddy 21 Posted August 17, 2005 Shock News. The bit about staying in your seats in order to help investigators identify bodies may not be that far removed from the truth. I recall reading, many years ago (which explains why I can't remember where) that life jackets are absolutely no use if a plane crashes in water, except to help searchers locate the site of the crash. They basically fly around looking for a circle of bright yellow jackets floating in the water - O marks the spot!

Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted August 24, 2005 I understand that BA customers are hoping the catering company staff remain on strike and all flights get grounded again the good old interweb. I was trying to think of any BA crashes, and found the following: http://www.planecrashinfo.com/rates.htm You won't be catching me on Air China or Cubana any time soon. Or Air France for that matter, although that would have been true regardless of their safety record.

Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted August 30, 2005 I see that France and Belgium have published lists of airlines that are banned from flying into their countries on safety grounds. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4194084.stm The French list comprises: Air Koryo, North Korea Air Saint-Thomas, US Virgin Islands International Air Service, Liberia Air Mozambique (LAM), including its subsidiary Transairways Phuket Airlines, Thailand Given the Concorde and Toronto crashes in recent years, it would seem the French should add Air France to theirs. football_fan 42 Posted September 5, 2005 Here's the third major plane crash...Bad luck really comes in threes Indonesia jet crashes on take-off An Indonesian Boing 737 passenger jet has crashed after take-off from the Sumatran city of Medan, killing at least 104 people on board and 39 on the ground. Fire engulfed the wreckage and local TV showed images of dozens of homes and cars destroyed by the impact. Firefighters are trying to put out the fire. satboy 2 Posted September 5, 2005 Did they manage to shoot any looters while they were about it? Or does that only happen in countries engaged in civil war?
