There was already another crash recently. Somewhere on the French/Italian border if I remember right.

So my Mum is right then. I'll try & enlist her help for the deathlist. She can probably see into the future.

Do you also count the Air France crash in Toronto where everyone survived?

Personally I wouldn't count that one.

A surprising number of Major plane crashes considering how safe air travel is supposed to be. I notice they didn't list the 9/11 crashes

Glad I'm not planning to fly anywhere in the near future.

They are probably under the belief that all these crashes, as opposed to 9/11 (or 11/9 for those of us who do these things correctly) which was deliberate.

But we know better, don't we Mr Bin Liner... :deathban:

It was very considerate of the London suicide bombers to choose 7/7

The bit about staying in your seats in order to help investigators identify bodies may not be that far removed from the truth. I recall reading, many years ago (which explains why I can't remember where) that life jackets are absolutely no use if a plane crashes in water, except to help searchers locate the site of the crash. They basically fly around looking for a circle of bright yellow jackets floating in the water - O marks the spot!

It was unclear what of plane was involved, where it took off from, where it was going, and how many passengers were on board.

useful...

That's because it's "breaking news"

Couldn't they have left it to break a little more...Sorry Janeo, not meant as a dig at you.

Another one!

I understand that BA customers are hoping the catering company staff remain on strike and all flights get grounded again :)

If you're in a plane that crashes it'll be cancelled for you.

the good old interweb. I was trying to think of any BA crashes, and found the following:

You won't be catching me on Air China or Cubana any time soon. Or Air France for that matter, although that would have been true regardless of their safety record.

I see that France and Belgium have published lists of airlines that are banned from flying into their countries on safety grounds.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4194084.stm

The French list comprises:

Air Koryo, North Korea

Air Saint-Thomas, US Virgin Islands

International Air Service, Liberia

Air Mozambique (LAM), including its subsidiary Transairways

Phuket Airlines, Thailand

Given the Concorde and Toronto crashes in recent years, it would seem the French should add Air France to theirs.

Here's the third major plane crash...Bad luck really comes in threes :)

Indonesia jet crashes on take-off

An Indonesian Boing 737 passenger jet has crashed after take-off from the Sumatran city of Medan, killing at least 104 people on board and 39 on the ground.

Fire engulfed the wreckage and local TV showed images of dozens of homes and cars destroyed by the impact. Firefighters are trying to put out the fire.

Did they manage to shoot any looters while they were about it?

Or does that only happen in countries engaged in civil war?
