Bob Veale, who pitched nearly 400 games combined with Pittsburgh and Boston between 1962 and 1964, and was a member of the 1971 World Series-winning Pirates, has died. He was 89.

I wonder if we can verify if Chuck Cottier is dead. There is a FB group post asking if Cottier is really dead. Someone claimed that he received a letter from his wife that he died in 2021. On Startiger, the last response is a letter that he said he can no longer signed autographs at his home, which is dated 2021. The latest comment said that his family wants to keep his death a secret

Felix Mantilla, who played in nearly 1000 games combined with several teams from 1956 to 1966 included, has died. He was 90.

I would suggest two things:

1) Get someone to check Accurint for a possible death record
2) Get in touch with Baseball Almanac – ask them and show them the Facebook chat. They're the most on the ball when it comes to baseball deaths. However, the guy asking the question on Facebook is the person who normally sends them most of their tips so they may have already looked into this!
