Death Watch Beatle 41 Posted July 12, 2004 I have been reading about the antics of Ms. Love for some time now - and quite frankly she strikes me as being barking mad - she sounds almost as big a liability as Pete Libertine. So here is a link to her latest mis-adventure. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/3882433.stm Overdose prospect or gun to head (husband fashion?), one to watch! Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted July 12, 2004 I'm with DWB on this one. She could be the Yankee Paula Yates - the blonde hair, the rock star boyfriend/hubby who killed himself rather than putting up with her, the embarrassing public displays, the drugs, the kids with odd names. It's all there. Although there's probably some empirical data suggesting she's a long shot it would be a real shame to miss out on her, and picking people like Courts is what the DL should be about, not debating the merits of some 97 year old Bulgarian duke no one's ever heard of. Guest Guest Posted July 12, 2004 Hear hear Ronnie, the heart and soul went out of this noble endeavour years ago....how one yearns for the glorious days of Bruno ("killed by Tyson blow") or Papandrawotsit ("knobing (sic) young bird"). Like Viz, the Onion, hardcore porn etc....not as good as it was.
Rude Kid 3 Posted July 12, 2004 You'd get precious few hits if you restricted yourselves to picking younger, 'loose cannon' celebs, interesting though they are. We've had 49 hits in the DDP in the last 18 months, all but 9 of them aged 75 or over. Anyway, I reckon Love's just a serial attention-seeker. She's had 10 years since Cobain's death to top herself; if she was going to do it, I'm sure she'd have blown a Hole in her head by now.
Typhoid Harry 23 Posted July 12, 2004 DWB's right about one thing, this q-tip is has been on a pachinko ball ride down to the River Styx ever since "Cold-brains" blew his out with a shotgun. She's re-habbed several times and still goes back to the well of soulessness like she's an Aphgani on a popcorn jag... Stop me before I sub-reference again. Gawd, could I mix any more metaphors? We see a bit more coverage of her here in the states. http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/06/28/courtney.love.reut/ http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/07/09/courtney.love.ap/ http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/03/18/love.arrested/index.html And that's just CNN... Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted July 12, 2004 Thanks Rude Kid for the statistical evidence, but isn't just picking over 75's like rooting for Michael Schumacher or Man Utd? Where's the fun in just going for old people? No duh that 80% of the DDP names to go were over 75, but isn't it much more satisfying to get at least a few of the elusive 20%? By the way, your site's inclusion of someone's selection of "Britain's Oldest Motorcyclist" is so beautifully obscure I'd almost make an exception to my own not- famous-enough test. Who knew there was such a category?
Rude Kid 3 Posted July 12, 2004 Problem is that if we banned elderly celebs, we'd only have half a dozen hits per year, and with over 40 teams, the whole thing would just be one big tie. Apparently Len Vale-Onslow was well-known among bikers, having built and sold bikes for something like 90 years. Our profile probably didn't do him justice! Grim Reaper 186 Posted July 12, 2004 Ive always been in Rude Kid's school of thought on this. It always seems like a great idea to back 20-1 horses in races - but gets very boring after a while - they win something like one in every 30 races. Backing the favourites is, of course, a little less exciting but the stream of regular winners makes it more amusing in the long run. The early DeathLists included many more "amusing" names, but successes were few and far between. Ultimately the only way to measure success is by the number of deaths as there is no easy way to rate how "good" a death is. I've heard's Ronnie views many times and, while I agree to a certain extent, unless stricter rules on famousness can be put in place and implemented in practice there's no way to achieve the desired effect. An alternative solution would be to increase the DeathList to, say, 200 picks to allow the more amusing celebs to be selected, but that diminishes the impact significantly. Alternatively we could take a leaf out of S-Club 7's book and run "DeathList Juniors" - for the hard living celebrities under 60 years of age
Grim Reaper 186 Posted July 12, 2004 On the subject of dubious DDP entries, I'm giving Jerry careful consideration for next year's entry... Guardian He seems to get pretty good press coverage, although I'm wondering whether he can pull off a full obituary when he finally chews his last roo
Guest Guest Posted July 12, 2004 time was Reaper, you used to pick out the odd 20-1 shot. hi mi chinh? need i say more?
Death Watch Beatle 41 Posted July 13, 2004 I take onboard RK's comments about being an attention seeker - no arguments there - but read the following article to find out just how unhinged she has become recently. http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?t...storyID=5649381 DWB

Rude Kid 3 Posted July 13, 2004 OK, you've persuaded me. She's now in the squad for my 2005 team.
Grim Reaper 186 Posted July 13, 2004 Courts has been in and out of trouble for so long that I wouldnt have given it much consideration... However, have now seen a few recent photos of her - seems like she's lost a serious amount of weight - her face in almost unrecognisable in some photos...probably not as a result of the Atkins diet
BlackThirteen 1 Posted July 13, 2004 Ah Courtney Hole. Or so I refer to her. I should have had her on my fantasy death list. This numb bitch loves herself too much to die until it is absolutely inevitable. She does the things she does for the sake of celebrity. "Look at me, I'm the outrageous Courtney Hole!" Unfortunately she will be around for a long time.
Death Watch Beatle 41 Posted July 13, 2004 And so the story rolls on . . . This latest report has started using the phrase "suicide attempt", admittedly with the words "not a" in front of it, but you've got to start somewhere. http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1489382/2...?headlines=true DWB
Grim Reaper 186 Posted July 13, 2004 Well this story's rather starting to out Mr Libertine in the shade... Now there's an idea for a celebrity couple
The Yeti 14 Posted July 13, 2004 She seems to be in a Hole lot of trouble. To quote ... Troubled rocker Courtney Love is "terrified" she'll be thrown in jail once she is released from hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment for a "gynecological medical condition". Los Angeles authorities issued a warrant for the singer's arrest on Friday after she failed to appear for an arraignment on a felony charge of assaulting a woman in April. Later that day - which was also Love's 40th birthday - the former Hole frontwoman was admitted to Bellevue Hospital in New York city. Confusion has surrounded Love's mystery ailment. According to American newspaper the New York Post, medics responded to her emergency call on report of a miscarriage, while police say she told them she'd had an abortion. Love's lawyer Michael Rosenstein fears the New York Police Department will act on the LA warrant and arrest her as she leaves the hospital. Rosenstein says, "She wants to defend herself against the charges, and what she is looking to do now is get back into California without going through an arrest, which would be stressful on anyone, much less someone just out of the hospital." Catherine 1 Posted July 18, 2004 Courtney is unlikely to sort herself out. As previously mentioned, I can see her becoming a Paula Yates type of character very soon.

Grim Reaper 186 Posted July 28, 2004 Nice update DWB - but heres the details we've been looking for... http://www.nme.com/news/109305.htm So Courts has been reading up on our dear friend Pete Lib ...Is this the start of something great?? Remember where you heard it first (see a couple of posts above). This IS the celeb couple the public (or the DL members at least) are demanding!
Guest Clover Posted August 15, 2004 f**k all of ya'll. Courtney will not die anytime soon. That kinda statement makes me laugh. If you actually have seen pics of her you will see that she looks f*****g awesome! This is a pic from just the other day. Friday the 13th to be exact. She went out to dinner with her friend Lisa @ Koi in LA. (Lisa also plays guitar for her band) She looks fabulous. And to the person who said something about her kid having an "odd name." What the f**k do you know? Frances Bean Cobain is a gorgeous name! She's a Cobain and her daddy picked out her middle name. I'm sure she adores it. DON'T f**k WITH FRANNIE!!!!!!
