'smugglin'' Sam

Samantha Orobator, up the duff and in the sh*t in Laos. Apparently pupped in the penitentiary, suggesting their interrogation techniques put Gene Hunt to shame. Likely to get mucho publicity for a short while at least. I mean, if they spared her till she'd sprogged and saw her off after that, it'd be very timely as a CPDP pick.

Check out the news coverage. She wasn't famous until she got banged up but a little basic maths suggests she could - just - be of interest. Due to sprog in the summer and currently the subject of arguments about a fair trial. The liklihood is she'll be deported, or jailed and deported to finish her sentence in London. Either way, her pregnancy could drag this out into late summer when she falls well inside CPDP territory.

Note how little the British are saying about her innocence at the moment. If she chose to smuggle smack under the noses of the Laotian authorities that's suicidal behaviour. This could run in the major news networks for a few months. They probably won't kill her, but don't totally rule it out. In the unlikely event she gets executed a little reminder of CPDP rules might be in order:

To be eligible for points upon death, the person's croaking must be reported in at least one of the three following online sources:

Cable News Network - CNN: cnn.com

British Broadcasting Corporation - BBC: www.bbc.co.uk

The New York Times - www.nytimes.com

The Independent - www.independent.co.uk/

She'd get that for sure. The question is, whether she'd have been sentenced by the start of the CPDP, because:

No picks who have already been sentenced to death and are currently on death row are allowed. If the person is awaiting sentencing or has had their death sentence overturned, they are still allowed.

Either way, it's about time we started keeping an eye on her.
