Deathlist Medal

Recommended Posts

Nominate someone who has made their mark in the true spirit of Deathlist.

A thread for people who might be otherwise overlooked in our daily discourse on everything deathly.

I'd like to kick off by nominating Hussein Didi for a medal. Didi's service to humanity was to expose those plonkers who think it's great to get wed or blessed on an exotic sandy beach only to start chucking the crockery at each other as soon as they return to dreary domesticity.

Hmmmm 'true spirit of Deathlist' is that picking likely fallers from the perch, or amusing us as we consider such matters?

In terms of sheer full-on dedication to the art of deathly prediction Ali leaves us all in the shade and his near clean-sweep in one particular Rotten Dead Pool is testament to his talents in this area. I did hear a rumour his arrival at the last Death Con was late because the train carrying him was delayed as a result of having to carry his vast tonnage of research materials. Of course several others....Alphonsin, Godot, ATJ, NAP have served to keep him well on his toes. Alphonsin probably being the easiest to overlook given his fleeting appearances.

Spirit.....LFN, Lardy etc, without whom we'd be lacking many of the better laughs and that sense of warmth and cameraderie that makes this the best death site. They're overlooked because the concentration on calling the dead can devalue the social element hereabouts.

And the seldom seen Grim Reaper made it all possible......so he'd have to be an early recipient of any such medal. And we overlook his contribution to our lives regularly.

Nah MPFC you're up a gum tree again. I wasn't thinking of fellow deathlisters - there's the Monkeys for them if they're ever revived. No, this is about people who do something that makes the world a better place, but who would not necessarily get the recognition they deserve for having done so. Maybe there aren't too many Mr Didis around but I would have thought so.

There's plenty of fodder, for example in the

It could be an

I agree some of these

are close to Darwin awards but I was thinking of people who brighten our lives in absurd ways.

On reflection it might be an idea to scrap this thread and merge what's here with "Things to do while waiting for death". I could, after all, have linked to Mr Didi under "get married".
