From what I've been told, the domestic Japanese media seems to be much more interested in her condition than her husband's. He's probably going to live for quite a while yet, but I don't think terribly longer for her, maybe a year or two.

i think he’s gonna feinstein by the end of the year or january

All things considered he looks a lot healthier then a typical 90 year old man.

Even better than DVD.

Made first public appearance in five months.

Looks pretty good for his age to be honest.

New article on Michiko's 89th birthday.

According to aides, "[Akihito] is concerned about the health condition of his wife, whose psychical strength is deteriorating".

Michiko hospitalised after fall.

A photo of the Emperor Emeritus as he enters a building to give condolences on the death of his aunt:

He continues to be able to walk unaided, while his wife uses a stick.

It seems that he is still doing well, I don't see him as a safe bet for the 2025 list, in my opinion I preferred that bet on Tomiichi Murayama instead of Akihito, he is 9 years older than him.

I don't think either him or his wife or a safe bet for the list, especially with the 2024 picks of the committee being rather terrible. Or alternatively he, she, or both of them, end up on the list and are deadweight.
