Oh, another format probably dead was DVD-A , ie DVD Audio, last I heard which a decade ago was shit loads getting released on it, and indeed the Floyd stuff I heard was immense.

You can file that with SACDs. Both are still chased by audiophiles but their was never enough interest from Joe Public for them to be commercially viable.

Dammit, that was the other format I was scouring my brain for and ended up throwing in the shite compression of Atrak. Or Atrack. Can't even google it ffs.

 

 

Edit it loaded. Atrac it was.

 

And I didn't know that was the compression behind minidisc, no wonder SACD, DVD-A and DCC sounded far better.
