What's god got against post-war babies?

What's this in reference to, if it's celebrity deaths the general consensus is you're wrong. Does anybody with power have access to traffic stats for yesterday and today to see how much a mention from the BBC increases our visitors. Its not the first time the forum has been swamped by visitors after a 'significant death' and the forum traffic has settled down after. Celebrity deaths are really what this place thrives on, the fact that we are on a run of them doesn't mean that it will continue in the same vein throughout the year. Every reliable source says that we are only just hitting the tip of an iceberg of celebrity deaths as the golden generation of famous people reach that age where they start dying. Along with the thousands left from the silver generation before them were in for a DL paradise of a high profile celebrity death a day within the next few years. To use that term 'reliable source' is a bit bollocks, isn't it. Its not like there is a whole stream of correspondents out there that have particular knowledge that certain individuals are going to die this year making 2016 a wank fest of celebrity deaths. Bowie, Victoria Wood and Prince, to name just three have died at ages not considered to be particularly vunerable to death by the hand of the Reaper. Id say that this year, so far, has been more unusual than previous years in so much that certain celebrities have died in their prime, they were not viewed as 'old' or vunerable to medical conditions. This golden generation is no more golden than the next. We have a zillion celebrities born in the 1940s, zillions in the 1950s and ditto in the 1960s. Shit happens The fact they've all died so young means were hitting the start of the ONS death per 1000 for celebrities that fall into the three age groups that represent Victoria Wood, Prince and David Bowie. Not much TV and music produced many more superstars in the 60s and 70s than film did in the 40s and 50s, many much younger. Exhibit A:

Was that when that national Chilean newspaper ran a story about us?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-36108133 In case anyone's curious as to what BBC link. They seem to share our general assessment on the forums recently, I'm starting to wonder if Nick Serpel is actually a DL user. Ironically I read that article as a way to kill time while I couldn't get on to the site, got half way down and burst into uncontrollable laughter as it suddenly dawned on me why I couldn't get on the site. I wonder if there's a DM article in this once they discover this site "The twisted interneters who predict the deaths of celebrities" Ah! that's it, of course. I was hoping it wasn't just me.

DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis
Deathray replied to Lord Fellatio Nelson's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I'm sick to bloody death of so called star Victoria Wood. No one here knows who cunt was. She isnt part of three of anything involving a mega star like Prince. SMH at pretending they are contemporaries. It's ok for you to post it and insult your own intelligence, don't insult mine. Note: no one has even posted Wood's obit in my DP cuz it would get flagged as irrelevant. Ok maybe not 'irrelevant' per se, but it bloody hasnt been and (seeing as I won't post it...) it won't be. And that with the knowledge I just posted the obit for the world's oldest dog. SC You seem to be suggesting the fact Victoria Wood, a comedienne with an exceptionally British humour, never broke America for obvious reasons, should somehow diminish her status in the UK. That's absurd - nobody knew about her cancer and she's a household name over here - she might not be a worldwide mega-star like Prince but her death has had a similar shock value in the UK - the place where this forum is based, lest you forget it. No-one in the US probably had a clue who Chris Woodhead was or who Sandy Gall and Cliff Michelmore are - that doesn't stop them being famous enough for a UK based Deathlist. If you want a DL where only worldwide megastars are accepted, then create your own site, this is a proudly British list and Victoria Wood was a household name in Britain. That's not to say she had the worldwide pull of a star like Prince, but she was a British star -

Victoria Wood, Prince - these things come in threes so another should be expected. -

Some people just have WAY too much time on their hands and waste their youth in front of the computer screen. You know, fresh air every now and then won't kill ya! My last post, before this one, was made last month. That's because I don't take this forum any more seriously than it is (and because my DDP team sucks so bad this year lol). I do get plenty of fresh air. I waste the rest of my time in front of a screen. -

Nope. Sweepstake rolls over to the next one. -
What's black and screams? Stevie Wonder answering the iron.

Anyone notice the Queen didn't make a speech at the 90th birthday celebration at Windsor, instead leaving it to Charles? Possibly something to keep an eye on if she doesn't speak at the next event, she also wore a headscarf in very warm weather. Is she hiding an illness?

I was just thinking this morning that someone would try and overshadow the queens' 90th birthday.

Barbara Windsor. -
You're fucking the Kid? You'd think she'd have learnt from Adam Johnson's woes and waited 6 months. On another note why I'm supposed to remember a thread I posted two fucking years ago is beyond me.

A fair few new members have joined, which could have pulled the average age down. Erm, not to the general user. There's a specific option to Make Votes Public, unless that's ticked we can't see who chose what option. I'll also notice the two users who chose 75+ last time out are yet to vote in this poll.
-
I'd like to appeal against the rather abrupt closure of my "How old are DLer users?" thread and poll on three counts: 1) Two years has passed since the last one, and there's been a lot of new ones if the old poll alone is used it will represent a mixture of DLers age at the old poll and anyone whose voted since, becoming useless. 2) The age brackets are massively different. 3) It'd be nice to see if the average age of death-listers has gone down recently. 4) The old poll wasn't public.

62 is hardly a pensioner these days for fucks sake. The retirement age is rising to 67. It's relatively young when life expectancy is 81.50 years.

I was just out on the patio having a tab when I heard a massive roar. Hmm, late draw, Vardy red carded. So, how many DLers are with me in willing Leicester to the title just to stuff it to the Premiershit outfits with masses of money and some sense of their divine right to win stuff? I probably am Mary , but they have masses of money. Hell, the 22nd team next season gets £100,000,000 TV money. Yep, £100 million. I'll try and dig out an article about why they aren't exactly the plucky underdogs. 21st I think. 22nd, 23rd and 24th are relegated, I don't think relegated sides get the £100m.

Towards the beginning of December - a thread will be posted asking "Who should be on the 2017 Deathlist?". The committee may or may not pay attention to it, but I'm pretty certain celebrities mentioned in that thread have been included in years past.
-
You'll note almost all of those articles are from a single, widely ridiculed source. This isn't really a big deal other here.

Fuck, you actually posted something funny. O'Sullivan does look a bit worn for a 40 something, on the flip side Steve Davis looks cracking for a 58 year old. Davis is actually old enough to be Ronnie's father though. Ronnie stealing the show again by not showing up for the mandatory press conference......he´s such a knob, I guess that next he will tease us with a deliberately played 146 or with taking a brown tea mug to the venue http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/apr/19/ronnie-osullivan-warned-snooker-world-championship-media Hopefully he gets knocked out by Hawkins/Zhang in the next round.

I think it is more significant that Lady Forsyth went by herself which mean he wanted someone to be at Ronnie funeral but he himself was not up to it. Until now I have thought he was going to go on and on but I did also say that when he gave up being on telly we should pay more attention to him. Are you sure she didn't just go herself. You'd assume if Corbbet and Brucie were such great friends, then Lady Forsyth would have known him well?
