I don’t think my home DP this year has gone more than a couple weeks this year without a hit, but Burt Reynolds was the last one to date.

Slightly interesting he was a keyboard player named Emerson. It isn’t exactly ‘Jones’ or ‘Smith’.

Was watching an old episode of The Tales of Wyatt Earp and James Griffith popped up on the screen, and I’m like ‘holy hell...that’s the spitting image of....that guy on Big Bang Theory!’ Actors: James Griffith (1916-1993) and Kevin Sussman (b 1970) There can be nepotism in Hollywood. Stunning these two aren’t related.

Sometimes the UK charts amuse me. This is one of those times. Hey, maybe Private Idaho will hit your fahking charts now that it's 2018. Spoiler alert -- they make a pretty cool song called Mesopotamia in coming years. And some karaoke favourite 'Love Shack'. Oh just you wait! -
Gil Savery, a longtime journalist who prioritized honesty and fairness in his field and in his life, has died at age 101. Savery’s 44-year career at the Lincoln Journal included reporting, many editing positions and a major role in the newspaper winning a 1949 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service. He was inducted into the Nebraska Journalism Hall of Fame in 2005 and received the highest honor available from the Nebraska Press Association — the Master Editor-Publisher Award — in 2010. SC

Alfred Russel Wallace (105 years ago (90)) would theorize 'evolution' and 'natural selection', and publish papers similar to, independent of, and simultaneous with those of Charles Darwin. However, Darwin got the acclaim. So but for the acclaim, we may be passing out Wallace Awards to the dolts who off themselves in some ridiculous manner.

Just so someone knows I uttered a 'god dammit' out loud when I saw Mitchell had been updated, knowing her birthday was posted. I'm sure that happens a lot with a few of you hoping to be 'first' with an obit. You see the thread updated and you already know.

November 7 and no one knows for sure what's up with President Bongo. According to a non-Gabonese source close to Bongo, the president "suffered a stroke." "It's no longer life-threatening, and he is no longer under artificial respiration," the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity, adding that President Bongo was still in Riyadh.

As I've posted a few times, I DO make an attempt to adapt my spelling and etc to fit in. A few of the more amusing words/phrases I latch onto, mainly because they are a better way of saying whatever it is. 'Summat' a perfect example. Along those lines, I hope it's appreciated that us Yanks get beat up with spellcheck for every 'colour' or 'neighbour' or 'theatre' or 'centre' being typed. If you see a Yank posting proper know that they put some effort into it. I'll be happy to pass along 'cuntbiscuit' as much as possible. SC

OK not a celeb but where the hell to post? A Texas middle schoolteacher committed suicide in his classroom Monday while school was in session, officials said. A staff member at Wessendorff Middle School in Rosenberg found fine arts teacher Jordan Halane unconscious. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died, ABC reported. They don't say much other than a firearm wasn't involved. Let your minds wander. SC

A former editor-in-chief of ruling Chinese Communist Party newspaper the People’s Daily has died in an apparent suicide after falling 19 floors from the paper's headquarters. Hu Xin, 66, died on Tuesday after being pronounced dead at the scene of the fall, which came after reports that she had been suffering from insomnia and depression. A source inside state broadcaster CCTV said Hu had been suffering from depression for at least a decade, and had retired a few years ago. SC

A Nevada brothel owner and reality TV star who died last month after fashioning himself as a Donald Trump-style Republican candidate has won a heavily GOP state legislative district. Dennis Hof defeated Democratic educator Lesia Romanov on Tuesday in the race for Nevada's 36th Assembly District, which includes rural communities and large stretches of desert in the southern part of the state. County officials will appoint a Republican to take his place in the seat. SC -

It's amazing who the winners and losers are in the obituary column. Those who have tapped into the psyche of the obit writers will succeed, the rest of us shake our heads once again. Am I saying Ouanounou should have had a QO? Not really. But who is this cunto? Could just be luck of the draw and slow news cycle weekend Sunday or summat~~.... SC BTW Scientists are very concerned about an Ouanounou object in the sky...

Given my hairline I would accept 'Mr Blonde' at this point.

Retired Argentinian boxer Mario Melo, 56, died on Sunday during a croissant eating contest in Buenos Aires. Melo was participating in a contest to see who could eat the most croissants in one minute. The former pro boxer was reportedly on his third croissant when he choked. According to local reports, a firefighter and doctor in the crowd unsuccessfully tried to dislodge the croissant from Melo's throat before paramedics arrived on scene. He was pronounced dead at Pinamar Hospital. Melo was also diabetic. Melo most famously fought U.S. boxer Michael Moorer for the WBA light-heavyweight world title in 1990. The South American heavyweight champion was knocked out in the first round. He retired in 1998 with a 21-9 record. SC

As background, in my college days and beyond I had a group of friends that I met up with about 6 nights a week at Denny's. There was a core of 5 or 6 of us, and about that many more who may pop in to the restaurant for 'coffee and fries' on any given night (and girlfriends too when applicable). So anyway as I reported a couple months ago my best friend growing up died of heart failure, he being 54. Yesterday we discovered another member of our little group, Brian Hastings, has passed away, again 55 years old or so. He lived near Muskegon, MI and it was a rare treat when his always amusing arse would show up to Denny's -- he was probably the least attended person. But he was called "Uncle Buck" long before any movies or anything, so I am missing Uncle Buck and as usual have the few posts we shared on FB the past couple years to remember. He had in fact been an enigma for 5+ years, no one really knowing what had happened to him until one of us discovered his wife (we didn't even know he got married - 2011) posted some photos along with his name. Then we all converged on him and got to talking like old times. Not sure what was wrong but apparently he had some medical issues, his wife posted 'no more pain'. Obviously esoteric, but what does it matter. So now we've lost 2 of our Denny's gang in a matter of two months. RIP my friend.

Serial killer and former Camp Pendleton Marine convicted of slaying eight women in two states in the 1980s and ‘90s, including a San Diego woman in 1988, was found dead over the weekend in his cell on death row at San Quentin State Prison in a suspected suicide. Andrew Urdiales, 54, was sentenced to death on Oct. 5 and had been on death row at the prison on the San Francisco Bay for less than a month. Correctional officers found him unresponsive in his cell about 11:15 p.m. Friday during a security check. Correctional officers unsuccessfully performed CPR on Urdiales, who was alone in his cell in the prison’s Adjustment Center, a housing unit for problem prisoners. He was pronounced dead at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday. Squeaked an extra day of 'life' in there according to death notice....by one minute! Important info in the San Quentin Death Pool. SC

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous

Former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Monday announced that her eldest son, Ronald Brewer, had died unexpectedly over the weekend. He was 54. Brewer already lost one of her three sons, John Brewer, to cancer in 2007. The cause of Ronald Brewer's death was not immediately clear. The obituary said only that he had died in his sleep Saturday in Phoenix, and a family representative did not comment further. "My Three One Sons" SC Edit: This seemed kinda important: "Ronald Brewer had dealt with mental illness for decades, spending much of his life in a state-funded mental-health facility after being found not guilty by reason of insanity in a 1989 sexual-assault case." -
