Mr. Hilton, who played at 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, caught the last NFL touchdown pass thrown by Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr. Oh I have a feeling they'll be hooking up again, real soon. SC -
Well as we know, Dr. Know (Gary Miller) got better -- for now. Ahh, but now it's the SINGER'S turn! Bad Brains singer Paul “H.R.” Hudson has been diagnosed with a rare neurobiological disorder known as ‘SUNCT' that causes extreme, crippling headaches. Hudson’s wife Lori announced the news with the launch of a GoFundMe campaign to help raise $30,000 for treatment at a headache center not covered by their health insurance. In an accompanying statement, Lori wrote: “There is no known cure and no reliable medical treatment. To give you an idea of what he’s dealing with, cluster headaches are nicknamed ‘Suicide Syndrome.’” SC Undergoing brain surgery. Could be a big miss for us all. #8: The animal care staff at the El Paso Zoo have received a biopsy report indicating a mass in 49-year-old Asian elephant Juno’s right mammary gland appears malignant, meaning the cells in the mass are exhibiting cancerous characteristics. These results come after several months of close observation and multiple diagnostic procedures. Since receiving the biopsy results, zoo veterinarians have been actively researching safe treatment options and consulting with national elephant health experts to determine the best course of action. “Cancer of any kind is extremely rare in elephants,” said Zoo Veterinarian Dr. Victoria Milne. “There is no record of a malignant mammary gland tumor ever reported in all of veterinary literature or in the collective veterinary knowledge.” Yeah I'd say that's kinda rare. In 1963, Harold Rosen had succeeded in upending the world of science and engineering, overseeing the creation of the world’s first geosynchronous communications satellite and laying the foundation of a future multi-billion dollar industry that would be dominated by California. Rosen died Monday at his home in Santa Monica at age 90. SC -
A Halibut cleric who became notorious in Nigeria for marrying at least 130 women has died aged 93, leaving behind more than 200 children and dozens of widows. Mohammed Bello Abubakar died in Niger on Saturday after an illness. Some of his widows are thought to be pregnant. Ten of his marriages ended in divorce. Look for future editions of this story in Widow Shopping. And to whoever authored this somewhat fake news....at 93, I promise you NONE of his widows are pregnant--by him. Fuck off. SC

Thanks people. But first of all - rest in peace John Wetton. Not only a great musician who was an important figure in progressive rock during his years with King Crimson and many other bands in the seventies and who later found huge success with Asia in the eighties, but also an inspiring individual in beating alcoholism and battling cancer bravely. I first learned of Wetton's illness around summer 2015, after having listened to a radio broadcast featuring him. Initially he was saying that he'd survived cancer, but then it emerged that the cancer had returned and spread around autumn 2015. From then on after, and especially after the sepsis and the wedding and the photos after that, I knew that he was a goner. He chose to remain optimistic, saying that he was going to be appearing at a festival and going on tour in 2017, but it wasn't even remotely realistic. And then earlier this month he said he was withdrawing from the festival and tour, and then he stopped tweeting, and that was basically it. And, I think I'm justified in saying, shame on you, Deathlist Committee. There was plenty of discussion about Wetton on this forum, yet the committee chose to ignore everything that was said and exclude him from the list. Oh well - when all is said and done, a hit for my list if not for the Deathlist! Well stated. As I said, what with Wetton and Lake and Squire and for die-hards Nik Potter, etc, we haven't hardly any prog bassists left. It's a sad day. FWIW the Peavey amp and amp head combo I used were promoted by Peavey as the rig 'John Wetton uses'. I still have the documentation in a file cabinet. It wasn't a particular selling point but interesting nonetheless. RIP Mr. Wetton SirC

World War II veteran, Richard Overton, believed to be the oldest in the U.S. will be able to stay in his beloved Texas home for several more months thanks to the help of more than 2,500 people who raised more than $121,000. Richard Overton, 110, has been living in his home in Austin, Texas for more than 70 years. However, when his caretaker started experience aging issues of her own, his family feared he would need to move to an assisted living facility. That would be a “death sentence,” according to his third cousin, Volma Overton Jr. “We all knew that if you move Richard out of his home, he’d die. That home is everything for him.” Overton Jr. launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for around-the-clock in-home care. Since its launch in December, more than $121,000 has been raised. This meant the veteran could stay in his home for another seven months. ------------------ As in Scooby Doo -- He'd be DEAD if it wasn't for those meddling kids! That's ok, 7 months puts him squarely on target for September, with a few months to spare. Good luck sparing him from my DDP you bastards. SC

He was Drop 40, that ain't just rumours. Yes it's a huge miss, seeing as they put Fats Domino on the list. I'll leave the Committee to explain looking at the two names juxtaposed on Dec 31 why they chose one (age based pick) over the other (stage 4 cancer). That's a debate you should NEVER end up on the side of age. SC

If we presume The Sun published this merely a year in advance.....may we also presume April 27, 2017 as the death knell for one Kirk Douglas? Why yes we can! SC
