The flooding subsided on July 31, but hundreds of animals have drowned, including more than a dozen rare Indian rhinoceroses. Well this has gone from a catch-all thread to a repeat posts that have been posted elsewhere hours before thread. However, as I tell my DPers in my DP, I'd rather see the obit twice than not at all. That said, we're a better lot here than the sods I have gathered in my DP. We can do better. SC

Landed safely. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-36935087?ocid=socialflow_facebook&ns_mchannel=social&ns_campaign=bbcnews&ns_source=facebook Who knew they made nets like 1/3 mile squared? Sir Creep had a 10% chance of hitting that thing for goodness sake. I thought he meant a proper Ringling Brother's net. He's a pussy. SC There was a fairly spectacular accident a couple of years back at the Kent County Show when a poorly secured cannon fired a human cannonball at a Ringling Brothers style net and the recoil from the cannon knackered the whole thing, meaning the poor sod fell short and died. That's more the way yer heading with yer own ideas of "entertainment" then SC. You might want to holiday in the Isle of Man arround TT time next year. You're right MPFC didn't they lose three this year or was the carnage quelled at two? -

Because on July 31, 2016 Austrian pianist/composer Franz Liszt (130 years) is infamous, and deserves this thread. American jazz pianist Bud Powell (50 years) does not. SirC

but limit it to like 50 or 100th anniversary as you did here. SC There's never been a rule that limits death anniversaries to 5, 50 or even 100 years. Why are you opening that can of worms. That conversation has been beaten to death. You are exactly correct. SC

Nothing I guess. I think I stated it perfectly clear. I personally only post more famous folks here but I guess we can have at it. I do prefer minimalism as to threads. But posting a bunch of rather nobodies here seemingly defies the spirit of the thread. However, If that's what you think best I'm all for it. No need for antagonism. SC

There you go! But maybe we shouldn't clutter up this area. I dunno.

I was considering starting a thread about death anniversaries for the not-so-famous, such as Mr Neisser. Not every day entries necessarily, just when you think about it. I pass over so many names of folks I never heard of without opening their bio. This would be very educational for us all, but limit it to like 50 or 100th anniversary as you did here. That way if a nice round number pops up we can give them their just do, and learn about someone in a couple sentences we never may have heard of before. Anyways, it was a thought. SC

Weather Channel meteorologist Dave Schwartz died following a long and public battle with cancer. After fending off pancreatic cancer, the longtime weatherman was diagnosed again in 2015, this time with stomach cancer. SC

I've been waiting for this moment. You castigated me for posting the Nice, France terrorist attack in the Terrorists & Topical Terrorist Targets thread; since when has a hot air balloon been a plane? I'm still awaiting an answer to this question by the way. https://forums.deathlist.net/topic/2945-terrorists-topical-terrorist-targets/page-29#entry271669 You were rightly castigated because we have a thread specifically for terrorist attacks vs the one for terrorists. I think hot air balloon fit nicely in a category about flying machines or machines of transportation. Unlike your castigation (I think I just like saying that word), I don't have a 'hot air balloons' thread. Did you want me to put it in Deaths of 2016. I suppose that is a fair catch-all. Otherwise I see no other thread to which it fairly or logically belongs. But I accept my fate. Take me to the stockade where I belong SC

A hot air balloon crash in central Texas on Saturday appeared to kill all 16 of the balloon's passengers, the Associated Press reports. Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson Lynn Lunsford told the AP that the balloon caught fire and crashed into a pasture near Lockhart, Texas, around 7:40 a.m. This is exactly how Sir Creep's uncle died and almost the same vicinity. Not good. Condolences to all the families. SC

Chris Costner Sizemore became one of the most famous Americans of the 1950s but under a disguised name, after the Georgia psychiatrists who had treated her multiple-personality disorder published her life story as the startling and best-selling "The Three Faces of Eve." Sizemore, who widely lectured on how those with mental illness could serve as functional members of families and communities, died July 24 at a hospice center in Ocala, Florida. She was 89. The cause was a heart attack, said her son, Bobby Sizemore. SC

Part of the infamous 1972 USA Olympic basketball team that 'lost' to the Ruskies in Moscow. The Americans refused to accept the silver medals so technically this obit is misplaced. Dwight Jones, a big man who played for a decade in the NBA and represented the United States in the 1972 Olympics, passed away earlier this week at 64 years old. Jones, perhaps the greatest high school player in Houston history, had been battling a heart ailment for several years. A first-round pick of the Atlanta Hawks in 1973, Jones would go on to play for his hometown Rockets, as well as the Bulls and Lakers. Jones retired in 1984 after playing 766 NBA regular season games, amassing career averages of 8.1 ppg and 5.9 rpg. RIP champ. SC

A total aside, but why have we got this AND a Sir Edmund Hillary category? Happily explain the differences and nuances with a smile on your face and love in your heart. Thanks. SC OK now..... A former Royal Marine who was recently engaged has been killed in a climbing accident in the French Alps. Duncan Potts, 28, died on Wednesday as he climbed the Dent du Geant mountain in the Mont Blanc range near Chamonix. He was with his friend, Luke Stevens, when a rock came loose in his hand and he fell around three metres. Despite a mountain rescue team reaching him after Mr Stevens called for help, Mr Potts died at the scene. SC again

] She doesn't need too. Why do you care so much if she goes to Glasgow or not also lets not forget that ridiculous claim that she did so because she hates Scottish people. I don't understand how you process information MK. First you state I hate Malala, when quite clearly I just think she's overrated. Now you declaim that I say she cancelled because she hates Scottish people. I have not said or suggested that. I have stated however that she has shown utter contempt for her "adoring public" in Scotland by cancelling without giving any good reason whatsoever for it. That kind of behaviour is not acceptable from people in the public eye. Now cease and desist putting words in my mouth. This is not a work of interpretation, this is a work of what is on the page. Oh and btw, don't try and correct my spelling, you got that wrong too. oh I see don't play word games with me. Treating people with contempt implies hatred also she could have had a good reason like for example she might be dealing with constipation. Well, it's her duty to tell us about her bowel movements...that's what the public demands from a Nobel Prize winner. Well if someone would take her out, Sir Creep would have hits in three different DPs including Shawn's. Help a brother out!
