Well I've no problem with his obit here vs 'British Character Actors' but then I don't see British shows to know the plethora of character actors he has been. He's Prof Snape and Hans Gruber. The rest don't matter, and Snape being a defining role x8, it's totally appropriate he is listed here be anywhere else. I'd have posted under Hollywood Possibilities, but barring that, here. Surely not bloody 'British Character Actors' Who remembers who was posted in what thread anyway? Rickman isn't disappointed, I can tell you that. In any case, speaking of threads: An unknown secret cancer...69..... Anyone see a common one? SC

William Needles, Canada's oldest working actor who graced the stages of Broadway, London and the Stratford Festival for almost 50 years, has died in Canada. He was 97. The actor and educator died Tuesday at a hospice in Alliston, Ontario, after suffering a heart attack, according to Ann Swerdfager, a Stratford representative. New York Yankees say Arroyo's daughter, Milagros, told the team Wednesday night that he had died earlier in the day in Puerto Rico. She said he had been diagnosed last month with cancer. Arroyo helped pitch the Yankees to the 1961 World Series championship. The 5-foot-8 lefty was 15-5 with a major league-leading 29 saves that season, then earned another victory in the Series against Cincinnati. A California man has died while wingsuit-flying among remote cliffs on the Arizona-Utah border, authorities said. The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday that it is devising a plan to recover the body of Mathew Kenney, 29, of Santa Cruz. It is trapped in a crevice about 600 feet below where he jumped Tuesday in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness — a rugged, desolate landscape that is hard to navigate, sheriff’s Lt. Bret Axlund said. Kenney hit a wall after jumping with a wingsuit, but investigators said they’re not sure exactly how it happened. Once they reach his body, they will examine his equipment, Axlund said. Magic Johnson, And Other Basketball Players

I think the reason Diem and Joey Kovar got NYT obits and other reality star's dont is because The Real World is the original reality show in the Us and predates everything else by almost a decade. It has a name value brand even more watched reality shows don't ,it is thee reality show for a generation of people attached to their youth even if almost no one has watched TRW proper in a decade. Also if Andrew Smith does not get a NYT Obit that would not be shocking because NY is not a College Sports hub the way certain other regions and cities of the Us are. And here I thought it was as simple as Brown was a white gal with breast cancer and Givens was black. I'd have guessed Smith's chances were less than 50-50 but NY colleges ARE basketball schools and zero football so I gave him a fighter's punch chance. The Times are excellent at taking 3-4 days to post obits, even fahkin online. Give it till Friday then I'll declare it a lost cause. SC -
anyone watch reality tv from Manilla? And yet no New York Times obit though they're slower than molasses. Interesting to see if he gets one. MTV reality stars Diem Brown did but Ahmad Givens didn't. No rhyme or reason. SC -

Can an admin plaese repair my title for 'Biggest Miss(es) by the DL, 2016" or whatever it says. My laptop has some compatibility problems when posting, has anyone else ever mentioned this? I have to go to the end of my post and hit 'delete' for some imaginary place holder before I'm allowed to post. Anyway in the midst of doing that my fonts got messed up and I literally backspaced and for some reason it posted as if I hit a return lol. Grrr. Thanks in advance. SC

I'm glad he was able to keep it quiet if that's what he wanted. A fuck you to the corpse chasing media and indirectly to wankers like us. I reckon there's a few dozen would get similar coverage if they died unexpectedly like Bowie: Prince Mick Jagger Jimmy Page Brian May Paul McCartney John Lydon Ringo Starr Bob Geldolf Bono Tina Turner Bob Dylan Bruce Springsteen Surviving Bee Gees Madonna Billy Joel Lars Ulrich Stevie Wonder Lionel Richie Leonard Cohen Bruce Dickinson Elton John Any member of Pink Floyd Roger Taylor (or any member of The Who) Cliff Richard Any member of Abba what about the two greatest artists of all time Roger Waters and David Gilmore of pink Floyd. Joni Mitchell is a name conspicuous by its absence on that list. There was a heck of a lot of coverage about her when she had a stroke. That would be multiplied by at least 10 if she died. It was a slow news day re: Mitchell. OK but really I think it was the shock of the whole thing. Now we know. Joni Mitchell isn't anywhere NEAR the stratosphere of say Springsteen or Prince or Stevie Wonder. People will shed tears when they die. Joni dies it'll be like "huh, musta been that brain thing acting up. Your play, Dierdre, I led with the King of Hearts". Geldof, BeeGees, Ulrich (PahLEEZ), Dickenson (pahLEEZ), Pink Floyd members not named Waters (FYI the next most important one has been dead and no one cared), and Cliff Richard (maybe in some parts of the world, but not the US of A) haven't fuckall of a reason to be on this list. They are NOT mega-stars. And is no one going to call out this boner: "Roger Taylor (or any member of The Who)" You friggin dumbass. Leave it to Sir Creep I guess. Gotta always do the dirty work around here. SC

You kinda sound like her right now! I got some sorta sore throat thing makes me sound verklempt. Like an old haggard Jew woman who presumes she knows everything and is happy to tell her opinion. Surprised you could pull all that out from a visual post, though, Dr.Z. You ARE a Dr after all! SC

Biggest 'miss(es)' by the DL Committee 2016
Sir Creep replied to Sir Creep's topic in DeathList Forum
Please fix the title fonts (DL not Dl lower case, and the E should be lower case).... my laptop got angry with the angry image and when I backspaced it posted and formatting got askew is all I can think. Alas. TIA. -
A lot more than that. He was a great player for starters, but baseball's first black executive, and one of the last Negro Leaguers, certainly the oldest. A big loss to mankind really. I REALLY considered him due to age and frankly it's a big swing and a miss for the Committee imho. He's a shoe-in for an obit as an historical figure, and he had far more reason to be on the list than at least 10 of the 50 on DL. In fact, it's time someone started the 'Biggest Miss of 2016' thread. And I'm off...... SirC

Songs You Can Go The Rest Of Your Life Without Hearing Again
Sir Creep replied to Phantom's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Yeah I'll check back but my immediate reaction was this is a list of songs once beholden only to get so saturated in your ears you're done with them. It can't be songs you thought sucked all along or I'd never stop typing. I liked a good number on Phantom's list. I concur. I heard Tears for Fears 'Head Over Heels' the other day, first time in 5 years I bet, and it wasn't long enough. In fact, though I can still handle all 6 minutes of the repetitive Shout, you can chuck that whole album now. SC
