Nowhere in either obit does it mention a connection between Dot Coble and the longest serving Senator in North Carolina history, Howard Coble, who died a few days ago in his upper 90s. But somewhere along the line the Coble clan of North Carolina was well-connected and I have to believe these two are related.SC

Funny you should ask. He's been given the all clear after 18 months. A-hem. I love when they've 'beaten' cancer, though he doesn't say that really. Posting as follow up here though Presenters thread makes more sense. Thanks all! True enough sometimes the rules are (basically) the first post or two, sometimes not so much, and then some games get lost onto page two etc etc. Super to see them in one location, certainly easier to give it a go. The question arose in my head simply thinking 'well why wouldn't I have the same list for every game?' And figuring there were logical reasons why. Again, gracias. SC

That's a safe bet. The guy is 92 next year, you can probably measure out his time left in months rather than decades. Next story will be the Enquirer announcing sources are "worried John McCain's beloved mother, Roberta, is near the end of her life". 1. I was thinking that a bit of the Master of the Obvious as well. 2. Holy Hell she's ALIVE?!? *making notes* SC

No, but the game does start afresh on January 1st, so thoughts do move towards the 2016 team. DDP - 20 names (plus 3 subs in case any die before 1st January), no changes throughout the year, picks need to have a mention as having died on one of about 20 obit sources. From loose memory, the American stars who don't get obits here tend to struggle to get them in the US too, but that's not a fast rule. Deathrace - 20 names, if a pick dies on January 1st its 365 points, January 2nd 364 etc etc. First team to 2016 next year wins. MPFC runs it, and likes a swift fast winner, so will accept nearly any obit known to man, even a mention in passing in the horoscope section of an US newspaper. As reigning champion (somehow), I picked up points from the translation of a French parish newsletter. No changes as the game is expected to end ASAP. Hares Pool - Deathray's game (in which you pick 25 celebs), much like the Deathrace but reverse. So you want to pick lingerers who might snuff it in December 2016. Death by Years - Shauns game, you play this. Hartlepool Deadlypool - Haven't a bloody clue. I just pick ten famous names each year and hope for the best! Inverse Deadpool - Formerly run by Spade, it starts in mid-January when the Deathlist 50 and the Drop 40 (most popular picks on 2016's Derby Dead Pool) are known. You pick the 25 people on each you think will definitely not die, and were stupid picks. Then if they die, you lose points. The person with 0, or the closes to a positive score, wins. That's the main ones (the DDP and the forum games) I play anyhow. You should repost this in HowTo this is gold! Much thanks! SC Actually it's worth a pinned thread of its own, IMO. Details of new games can be added as and when, and we would have them all together as a useful reference point. Wish I'd have thought of that SC

October article on his website: "Everybody dies, but few have the opportunity to accomplish a greater good through their death. Davis fights every day with spirit and tenacity, not just to hold death back longer but to inspire the lives of others." Now I'm reading into it but who talks about impending death unless there is .... An impending death? Will he make 2016? I bet it's close. Not even sure if it's legal, but all this But Reynolds jibber jabber is so stupid and irresponsibly premature that I am betting 1000 of my post counts to any taker that he will be with us four years from now 11-6-2019. Think how quickly you'll leap in the standings! Admin approval of course. SirC

'Fundraiser and charity leader' sounds like code for 'famous for being sick' like Lauren Hill. DISALLOWED lol SC To her credit (or mine?), she was already fundraising before she got sick, for the Alzheimer's society. Maybe a first brush with breast cancer made her then fundraise for that? I don't know, though she died of a different cancer.According to http://www.theguardian.com/society/2000/nov/13/publicsectorcareers.voluntarysectorshe was a fundraiser for 20 years already. Ah well, let's see if the Guardian obit appears within a couple of days. I thought I might have a new Denise Marshall here. She was fundraising for a medical condition that she would fall victim to 20 years later?? What do u take me for!? Either that or this needs to be posted in Ironic Deaths if I'm to believe she was unaware of her condition. SC

The former Playgirl centerfold who came out as gay and made the 1995 mockumentary Man Of The Year about his experiences, has died. Dirk Shafer was found dead in his car Thursday in West Hollywood, law enforcement officials told Deadline. The model, actor and fitness trainer was 52. Sir Creep replied to Dr. Zorders's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Along those lines I most definitely recall some promoter offering the offspring of Agassi-Graf like $100K to play in a tournament at age 18. I'm misremembering the facts but that's close. SC -
Might want to let Spade Cooley know http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=8081&p=240618

I wonder why the other 39 states and the rest of the world don't need excellence. I guess they're already excellent!
