Akerman was a Belgian, but hardly a famous one. Besides: SC chose this thread to post in, and I learned of mr Akerman´s demise here. Mr? Seriously I'm well aware she's an old lady from NYTimes obit I didn't need to post. Sorry for my mrS missing the S _MH _C -
Some Swedish pop/punk band APTLY named Terrible Feelings has cancelled their 2015 tour, stating only that "the well being of the members of the band is our primary consideration." SC http://heyevent.com/event/xgmsdkfx2ubzqa/terrible-feelings-tremors-european-tour-october-2015-cancelled

Interesting - Thailand has a National Anthem and a Royal Anthem. National Anthem still played twice a day I understand. Wiki indicates - though it's a dead link - that a citizen faced lese majeste charges for failing to stand for the Royal Anthem in 2008. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sansoen_Phra_Barami Apparently the link didn't stand for the Royal Anthem. Are we sure Graham is actually alive and not dead and replaced by his son? I think the probability of that is low, but I actually wouldn't rule it out. There was a first generation of evangelicals, like Graham or Schuller, who were serious about the Christian 'movement', but their descendants and successors also know that it's a damn fine business, see, for example, Pat Robertson. Exhibit A: Joel Osteen

Now see I posted my end of the world thing under Conspiracy Theories.... Probably a boner. But the line of demarcation is thin. Duly noted for next time. It was nice knowing all of you btw should this come to fruition. I can almost guarantee it's the end of the line for a few humans tomorrow. SC

Magere I'm surprised. Not 'A Famous Belgian'? We could really be beefing up that suicide thread but no one is on board :-( I'm over it lol SC -
Just a lot of threads to try to remember. I think it's more a small brain mass moment. It's not nice to make fun of us SBM people :*-( SC

Sorry to hear Y-Dub. Must have been something in the water yesterday because last night my Facebook page blew up about one of the guys I shot pool with for two seasons, he also being about 45, having died suddenly. I'm not at home so it's conjecture but I understand he had a massive stroke, on Saturday, and family took him off life-support last night. It's maddening, and like every death we post, a reminder we are all on borrowed time. SC -
forgot about this thread. ugh. Thanks!

Update: Manager John Farrell is expected back next season after undergoing cancer treatment. Boston announced Farrell’s return before the season finale against Cleveland on Sunday. The 53-year-old left the Red Sox in August after being diagnosed with Stage 1 lymphoma, detected when he had surgery to repair a hernia. SC

Satyricon frontman Sigurd “Satyr” Wongraven has revealed some unsettling news via an Instagram post. He's been diagnosed with a brain tumor. "Most likely it is benign. I can live with it as long as it does not grow bigger. Removing it is extremely complicated and should only be done if it grows into a size where it is a matter of life and death." SC

Seems like a remote chance. I guess they might screen for prostate cancers and the vast majority of those are medically insignificant (early stage indolent cancers). Might be a little more to this prostate cancer than meets the big brown eye. Yes this is from July, but her sabbatical ends in October, so maybe we will get an update. "Ho Ching, chief executive officer of Temasek Holdings Pte, is extending her sabbatical. “Ho Ching has taken the option of extending her part-time sabbatical leave to six months, and will complete her sabbatical in October 2015. She will continue with her board duties and specific stewardship duties.” Ho (--and who doesn't like calling the Prime Minister's wife HO--), 62, began her sabbatical in April following the surgery in February of her husband, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Lee’s father, Lee Kuan Yew, who was Singapore’s first prime minister, died on March 23. ----------------------------- Interesting she needs more 'leave' time, and it is conspicuously inconspicuous as to the reasons, other than they definitely relate to her husband's health. She took long walks with Georgia O’Keefe at the famous Ghost Ranch. She visited Man Ray at his home in France. She received pieces from Pablo Picasso signed, “Love, your friend, Pablo.” Naples resident Olga Hirshhorn, widow of renowned art collector Joseph Hirshhorn (of Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden fame), was as in touch with the art world as just about anyone. She died Oct. 3 in Naples at age 95. SC

OK it didn't crash at all, but where the hell else am I to put this rare event? An American Airlines flight from Phoenix to Boston was been diverted Monday to Syracuse, N.Y., after the captain became ill and later died. (Link indicated in mid-flight) Airline spokeswoman Andrea Huguely says Flight 550 was diverted shortly after 7 a.m. Monday and the first officer safely landed the plane with 147 passengers and five crew members onboard. Don't Walk....... RUN....to the cemetery! Neal Walk, a former NBA big man who played for the Phoenix Suns, New Orleans (now Utah) Jazz and New York Knicks, died Sunday at a Phoenix hospital. He was 67. No offence to the deceased, but goodness (go look at the pic) he was playing the wrong sport to be a harry ape. He should have been the league's leading scorer--I for one wouldn't have leaned up against him or allowed it vice versa. He could have 'walked' to the basket untouched. Yes, you saw what I did there. Boggs deceased. #30 on my list. Will anyone survive the carnage? SC

Interesting that 'Banshees Scream' mentions pumpkins, as I've read (some obvious misinformation) that in some places (read: Ireland) they do not use jack-o-lanterns but rather carve turnips hung with tea lights or whatever meant to ward off banshees. They would seem quite malleable, and honestly it sounded like a grand idea to me one I was willing to give a go this year. Are we saying I've been Onion'ed on this one? I read this a good 5+ years ago fwiw. SC

The NAACP has branches in a number of major metropolitan areas of concentrated black populations. Mr. Mondesire was the President of the Philadelphia chapter of the NAACP, rather than the NAACP as a whole. Just to clear that up a bit. SC
