Late Breaking! Mike Peters Of The Alarm!
Sir Creep replied to Gross Urnings's topic in DeathList Forum
Not to be a stickler for impertinent detail....but.... .....thus, there was and was only ever going to be ONE diagnosis. He may be back in hospital for a third treatment of same, but that's it. One last thing I can't believe slipped past everyone! ZORDERS! Was that YOU!? SC -
Tragedy struck the college football world this morning as University of Lousiana-Monroe quarterback Daniel Fitzwater passed away abruptly Saturday morning. Fitzwater was just 20 years old. The university announced Fitzwater’s passing via a press release, which was reported by John Taylor of NBC Sports’ College Football Talk. No cause of death has been announced. UL-Monroe is the big rival to UL-Lafayette, the college where I live in Lafayette, LA. They are members of the Sun Belt Conference. This kid appears to have been a backup player recovering from injury, and who knows and why speculate, but no one at 20 deserves a death sentence. RIP. SC

Magic Johnson, And Other Basketball Players

Sir Creep warned you, but did you listen? Three weeks after announcing he has 'very treatable and curable' cancer, he is back in hospital after 'a setback'. I'd have to imagine the coach of an NBA team would obit but only y'all know that. One to NOW definitely keep an eye on!!!SC http://m.newspressnow.com/sports/ap/basketball/article_aac1c389-37bd-528a-a3dc-92b96a183ea0.html?mode=jqm Minneapolis Star Tribune journalist Jerry Zgoda suggests Saunders's recent silence means either a poor reaction to chemo or more cancer than originally thought, so indeed worth keeping an eye on. He could of at least mentioned me as a source for the entire storyline so far. SC -

Former Detroit Tiger (among other things) Rusty Staub suffered a heart attack while on a plane from Ireland to the US. As I stated, I too would have a heart attack if I ever made it to Ireland and then had to leave. SC

Dear Brits: As you enjoy a little NFL action today (NYJets, Miami Dolphins), I saw this tweet come across just now, had to post: "Dear London, the difference is when an NFL player goes down like that and rolls around, he's actually hurt." SC

Guatemala mudslide: Rescue workers using shovels and pickaxes recovered more bodies from the rubble of a collapsed hillside on the outskirts of Guatemala City on Saturday as an official said the death toll had risen to 69 with another 350 people believed missing. Julio Sanchez, spokesman for Guatemala's volunteer firefighters, said the death toll will likely continue to rise as emergency crews dig through tons of earth that buried some 125 homes Thursday night in Cambray, a neighborhood in the suburb of Santa Catarina Pinula. Earlier estimates had said that 600 people could be missing. SC -
RIP.... not a total waste, as he is another Shaun of the Dead DP hit for me. SC

Note to self: If an interviewee looks good for their age but is an incessant bore, they'll be dead in 6 months. SC

The second was James R Messenger.I can assure you that you did pick Tickle as she is on your entry on my masterlist which was copied and pasted the day you submitted your team.Yeah sure I will add him to your entry on the masterlist. Right you are! Well similarly I'm throwing Norman Lear's name into the fray, and to my knowledge he's fit as a fiddle, but older, and like Ali I would be miffed if he passed and I got nothing for it. So it remains a bit of a punishment for unwittingly putting a deceased person's name on my list. SC Consider it done WOO HOO SC

One of my very few personal meetings with the famous.....shared a drink with Mr. Orr at the airport in Albuquerque, NM. Sir Creep is also a bass player so this makes me sad to remember. Benjamin Orr, bass player for The Cars (also my second concert ever 1978) -- 15 years ago 10-3-2000. SC

The top-ranked welterweight contender Johny Hendricks won't be fighting Tyron Woodley in UFC 192 after weight cut issues forced him out, UFC Dana White president tweeted just a day before the fight. Hendricks was rushed to the ER last night. In an interview with mmafighting.com, Hendricks told Ariel Helwani about his trip to the emergency room. "The weight was coming off fine and then yesterday my body just started to shut down," Hendricks told Helwani. "When it hit that point, I tried to push through it, and well, it didn't go well because then I had to go to the ER." SC

It shouldn't have crossed one's mind. It's ridiculous. The greatest bluegrass musician in the history of bluegrass musicians doesn't deserve their own thread. Bluegrass musicians aren't important enough in any capacity to be given a thread on DL. SC

I was almost certain we had a thread for the pets of the rich and famous. Hmmm. I know Animal Antics is about animals in general, not sure the Queen Mother's pet cat or dog or Eric the Fish belong there. I'm putting this here, move as nessecary. Robbie Williams dog Spencer has died. SC

It's the end of an eagle era. Ozzie, one-half of internet sensation couple Ozzie and Harriet, died Wednesday, according to the Center for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife on Sanibel Island, Fla. Ozzie and Harriet are thought to have first nested inFort Myers, Fla., in the early 1990s. That timeframe would make Ozzie and Harriet 25 years old or older, and the average lifespan of an eagle in the wild is about 20 years. A second male moved into Ozzie's territory earlier this year and is apparently Harriet's new mate. Bald eagles typically mate for life but will mate with another eagle if their partner dies or is missing. Called by some eagle fans "The Frequent Visitor," the younger eagle apparently fought with Ozzie, sending the older eagle to the hospital for a second time this year. Now there's a woman; after 25 years get dumped for a younger model, who then kills you. SC

Dear DLers: Am I being a bit narcissistic on my duaghter's behalf? Yesterday 9/30 was my daughter's 5th birthday. It's her day. her birthday. All hers. At least in her family tree. So cut away a few days ago, when her aunt and her aunt's partner are due to have twins. They already have one child who is 3. In a technical/medical/genealogical sense, it's he partner who was inseminated and carried the babies to term, it's her DNA. So although any children to this couple are her 'cousins', they're not really. I do genealogy so don't attack me -- people are either related or they ain't. (Sorry you adopted people, you'll get no solace from me). Anyway, that aside -- due to whatever the babies were to be born C-section on 9/29. Last I heard. I work away from home and don't dwell on day to day matters that occur at home and this slipped my mind until yesterday, 9/30.... when I see a FB post from the aunt introducing the newborn twins an hour earlier! This was NOT a natural childbirth. It was a C-section. It was scheduled to my knowledge on the 29th. You can have a bloody C-section whenever you want. So why did they delay and choose to have my daughter's 'cousins' on the same day, meaning now they all have the same birthday? And why am I petulant about it? Am I asshole #1 for being so? Am I right? Should I be like Queen Elsa and Let It Go? LOL Just needed to vent. Goddamn aunt trying to steal my daughter's birthday special day from her. The audacity. SirC
