I'm surrogate 'liking' this on behalf of Peter Gabriel, who I understand is a DL member, but away at this time. SC

I have absolutely no idea who James R Messenger was but seeing as the Doug Stanthorpe site gave you the points and the link you gave seems legit I am confident that he is indeed deceased whoever the hell he was.Can you please enlighten me as to who he was out of personal curiosity?Anyhow you gave me a substiute for Amy Watts that is now on my master list so it is only right that you get to pick another name.Who would you like? This option will of course be open to anyone who has a candidate that died before they entered the game but wasn`t reported on. No I believe I must suffer the punishment of not performing due diligence, and that's NOT a euphemism. SC

Scheduled for December 2017, if it's not too early to start an Ideas and Possibilities 2017 thread. SC -

According to the Telegraph, Jihadi John is Nr. 1. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/syria/11852303/Jihadi-John-tops-secret-kill-list-of-five-Isil-extremists.html They should do it on January 1st, as a bonus to all Deathrace runners. Aye, it's very American innit How long until we have a pack of playing cards with all the wanted on the back? That's crazy talk!

http://m.legacy.com/guestbooks/DignityMemorial/guestbook.aspx?n=James-R-Messenger&pid=174685367 As I've posted in Possibilities thread, it's been discovered that James R. Messenger is dead! However---it was in April, so no points and a big hole in my list :-( lol ugh SC

An obit is certainly likely, whether it will qualify him for a DDP hit is a question though. He received these nominations in one of the most obscure categories [documentary short], he only has a short imdb entry and doesn't even have a Wikipedia page.Anyways, the cancer seems to have affected his brain as well - in addition to his pancreas: http://www.virtual-strategy.com/2015/03/18/father-information-age-james-r-messenger-66-diagnosed-terminal-cancer#ixzz3XOJfABvH America is "sinking into tyranny" and China is "reaping the benefits of a new Renaissance"? Wtf is he on about? Which country has a "Great Firewall", "protecting" her citizens from "harmful information" (ie. criticism of her government)? Where would you feel free to criticize your own leaders or organize a demonstration/protest march online without risking a lengthy prison sentence? This guy is a total nutcase. Ok to update, the Dougstanhope.com DP site I just noticed in the past couple weeks is giving me credit for a 'hit' on James Messenger with a date of 4/21/2015 DOD. I had no idea he died (this gives me a hole in my entry in Shaun's DP lol ugh) and even knowing that date I can find nothing. I'm going to ask them to provide evidence of his demise. Guess I was wrong re: obit anywhere much less UK. Hell, Hollywood hasn't mentioned it, which is odd for a two-time Oscar nominee and Emmy winner.SC [edit: ok only thing I find is this obit http://m.legacy.com/guestbooks/DignityMemorial/guestbook.aspx?n=James-R-Messenger&pid=174685367 Definitely James R. Messenger according to comments in guest book. Wow]

Tenuous for the ice hockey PLAYERS thread but I'll accept your punishment. Richard Loney, the man who sang the National Anthem(s) at the very first Vancouver Canuck game in 1970 and did so for 40 more years, has died. SC http://www.vancitybuzz.com/2015/09/canucks-anthem-singer-richard-loney-dies/

Almost started a new thread for 'Television Producers' because Film Producers doesn't qualify and Holywood Possibilities infers film stars not TV (in my mind at least), but after over 1800 categories the last thing we need is further subdivision. Merv Adelson, well-known producer of hit shows like "Knots Landing," "The Waltons" and "Dallas has died. He was 85. Adelson was also behind TV favorites including "ALF," "Love Connection," and "Full House." He was a co-founder of Lorimar television and was twice married to Barbara Walters, proving he must have accomplished all this while being blind. Saw the video of that cunt, tripped a man carrying a 4-yr old boy, and at least one other young person (a girl about 12 maybe) not an isolated incident, she needs to be more than sacked. As for the refugees (who almost certainly have ISIS among them, why wouldn't they given the lack of demanding clearance paperwork?), I defer to Shriekback: "You let them in, and now they're everywhere. Whether it's vegetable or mineral it's up a little, back a little." SC

As noted he also played guitar on the multi-Grammy winning artist Anita Baker on her multi-platinum multi-Grammy award winning album Rapture; both of which I was admonished for expecting Brits to be aware of and her Obit already written and awaiting publication. Oh no, was told she's a nobody. Pfft. SC

I'm guessing this is TV chimps not any old animal---those go in Animal Antics in extra-curricular.

100 years ago Albert Spalding, who played a little pro baseball, then started up a sporting goods company to supply baseball etc for generations. 40 years ago actor John McGiver, who is quite memorable to me and hard to believe he's been gone since I was 12. SC

Been To Any Good Gigs Lately?
Sir Creep replied to Brinsworth House Baiter's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Not sure where to post my request for someone to mail me a CD but here goes: I'm almost certainly the only Yank what owns anything by a great but obscure 90s Brit-pop psychedelic band Big White Stairs. [i paid 21£ or $36 for their 4-song EP No.1 the only available copy on the Internet, and it's likely the only copy in America]. I have everything they've recorded but I am only missing "EP No.2" and unless the heavens align and it shows up on Discogs, I'll never own it. Whereas YOU fine DLers can pop in your local used CD outlet and perchance find a copy. Thanks in advance. SirC -
Not Seen Any Good Films/movies
Sir Creep replied to Paul Bearer's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
The movie has a few guffaws and I liked Nolte and Redford together, but stick to Bill Bryson's book re: A Walk in the Woods. I suppose if you have read it you'll enjoy the flick but it's not much of a story to someone who hasn't IMHO. Tons left out and to that end disappointing. Give it a B- SC -
Andrew Kohut, the founding director of the Pew Research Center, has died at age 73. The former leader of the polling group that calls itself a "fact tank" had been battling a form of leukemia that his son says was first diagnosed in 2009.
