Terrorists & Topical Terrorist Targets
Sir Creep replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
Hey now THAT'S the spirit! Never thought I'd see the IRA representing in here; in fact it hadn't crossed my mind. Probably the wrong place to start promoting mah ah-rish speert, dontcha know. And yes after a few pints those McGuigan boys get after each other. SC -
Absolutely. The rule of thumb, I try to use is that each new year raft of entries are all one in the same. So, now my sheadsheet has a column that tracks if that if names have been used within a Sun Wukong or main DDP and suchlike entries. I don't think theme teams count in this regard. It's still tricky to get it right but it's a long list even with the odd mistake year on year.As for obits. First base is a personal Wikipedia entry. The unwritten rule is at least 15 minutes of fame and a noted write up on death in a publication that has print curclulation more that Farmers Weekly. As an aside, the restriction to remove the long time coffin dodgers even seems to improves team performance. Here, I'm on 11 hits out of my now 48 eligible names where-as my DL shadow list lags with just 8 hits out of 50 names. Thanks! Well, I asked because for newer players like me, there might be a small advantage since I have only one year with about 100 names to disregard. But then I guess that the main benefit of this game comes over time, i.e. once a list of 50 people needs to be replaced completely in the year ahead. But to be completely compliant with the rules above, I guess I should enter before 1st of January 2016... (in fact, I'm thinkinf of Dec 31st, but Jimmy Carter might change that...) Edit: Yes, there probably are benefits to changing names completely. The DDP Drop Forty is a good example of that. It's full of people who are popular to pick if you're out of names, but that tends to accumulate people with a naturally good constitution, i.e. people you already once picked and think it would be a shame to drop them or people who are so famous that each of their little health scares makes the news. Pshaw! I just (two days ago) compiled a list of names strictly from the 'possibilities' suggestions and a bit of me own research and its 50-names long, and it's August. I'd have zero problem coming up with 75 unique names every single year that I'd feel comfortable with being competitive. 40 is a pushover. SC

Wondering how many typed "I'm changing my vote to Jimmy Car"...... Oh to realize he's not on the list, and delete your post. SC

True; he won't see 90 days if that's the case.

Uggie, the Jack Russell terrier and star of 2011's The Artist, has died at 13. Uggie was put to sleep on Aug. 7 after battling a prostate tumor, his owner Omar von Muller confirmed on Facebook after TMZ first broke the news. SC

I"m still giving him 2016, but just barely. I'll start the damned sweeps. January 20, 2016 (Inauguration Day in these parts, so he can reminisce). SirC

I may find it of little value to throw darts at nonagenarian walls hoping something will stick, but most of you love it, so with that let's not forget Gertrude Himmelfarb, historian, 93. Not positive she'd obit in UK but worthy of a mention on someone's DDP team I reckon. SC
-
How well would Irwin Corey obit in the states? oh sorry, surely he would be automatic obit in NYTimes. SC EDIT: In fact you just reminded me of him, 'surprised he's still alive' candidate. I'm shocked anyone from the movie Chatterbox walks the earth.

Yikes! Throw in a health issue or two, which he has had, and I may not think 2016 but by 2017 he has to be given prioritized consideration. I have a couple people in my DP with his name this year. SC

And now she's cancelling appearances due to "exhaustion". With her constantly cancelling performances, it's almost reminiscent of the last couple of years before Etta James passed away. Yeah it's like neither of you two bothered to read the linked article. 'Constantly cancelling performances'....where did that bogus tidbit come from? She's already matched last year's number of performances (9) and it's August. She's a hefty old lady who just rode 2500 miles in a bus. Yes this is totally unexpected and out of left field she must be dying. Also -- keep in mind she probably has a bit of mental anguish pent up over Bobby Kristina Brown, being her niece's daughter. What a pair of tools. SC

I'd question the veracity of a news outlet what didn't mention the deaths of Wouk, Slocombe, Lloyd and Rockefeller. Particularly a British news outlet with such an outrageous oversight. Here in the States Wouk and Rockefeller of course would get a mention, and maybe Slocombe a nice reach-around. The rest I doubt. SC

wrong thread, but you've probably already noticed. SC

Magic Johnson, And Other Basketball Players

Coach Flip Saunders is being treated for Hodgkin's lymphoma. I love it when a cancer patient gets all up in cancer's face 'it's very treatable and curable'. You shouldn't have dared cancer, Flip. SC -
Wow, I didn't know it was that much. Honestly, it looks like someone wants him to stay ill so that this person can claim more power for him/herself, maybe a general, maybe even the Crown Prince? Surely the crown prince would gain more power by offing him? Who knows... maybe he tried and failed like he does with everything. True story: The Wikileaks cables showed that the US secret service thinks that the Crown Prince will be unfit to rule. The Crown Prince really is quite a tool, and very unpopular. Or it could be that the sum and substance of that list is overblown and excited hyperbole within a DLers kind as 'a sign. Stenosis isn't life threatening at all, it's a manageable condition unless you wanna play running back in the NFL. 0 on the meaningful scale. Flu and pneumonia? Sure they kept an elderly man in the hospital a while but he checked out and cleared to go. In other words he had a shitty flu settled in his lungs. Meaningless once he was healthy. 0 on the meaningful scale. Inflammations on stomach and lungs? Meh, cleared up and released. Only thing I see as consistent, but he seems to deal with periodically, is the matter of fluids getting to his cranium. That's not good, but those events are 2006, 2012, 2015. Is he a fair bet to go in 2016? Surely it's a decent name to put on one's list. Is he definitely at death's door? I don't know about that. SC

The NE suggested he fears 'he may never sing again' usual hyperbole but we can only hope. When has he sung in the past three decades? He has been a pugilist is all I know. SC Last year and 2013 as he was touring with Marie. Or you could just do a search. this is what I discovered http://www.bandsintown.com/DonnyOsmond/past_events?page=16 Yo OCD much? It was rhetorical. No one gives a damn about any Osmond, and my point was he nor any Osmond isn't nor has been relevant in decades. Touring or otherwise. I assure you I'll not be searching the Web to see what the Osmonds are up to. SC

When my daughter, now 4, can financially support her aging daddy, now 52. Looks like I'll die on the job. SC

Didn't a producer for the show die about a month ago? I'm sure it's in this thread up the line a bit. SC Well dammit Joe McMahon isn't showing up in a search. Maybe I'm recalling his murder on July 24 from MY DP where it was posted.
