Are you people seriously going to talk about each Jackson as they die using this thread? I had 1 guy in my league out papa Joes name on his list this year. Anyway he isn't worthy of discussion just an obit when he croaks. Who the fuck is he besides a sperm donor? SC

Some reason I'm just catching up with this thread. Actually, RadGuy, it's those 'creepy' coincidences that help bond us as families. My mother died on her father's birthday, for example. May he RIP. SC

I hope that wasn't off topic but I fear it was. This looks to be about state execution vs right to die. Maybe Political Rant was better place but I'm not Reposting. I searched assisted suicide and this looked the only fit. SC

California about as liberal as it gets here across the pond, and yet we have THIS bastion of good Olde Puritanism handed down as legal precedent. Thank God for Oregon. Fuck any govt or anyone at all that thinks they have a right to control my end-of-life matters. Really? I know quite a few people who have died in the last 10 years, and there are numerous other posters who have mentioned their own bereavements. Think your comment is the odd one. I've been to 5 funerals in the past 10 years, plus know of relatives of friends who have passed away but I wasn't able to attend due to having to travel great distances. I'm guessing it's an age-dependent comment. I was to maybe 7 funerals ever before I was 35, but now relatives and parents of good friends or old neighbours are all on the fringe of life. It's a pleasant surprise after 40 if you don't attend an annual funeral. Shit, the pub I go to regularly the past 8 years has buried at least 4 people I can think of. But yes suggesting even at a young age that you go more than a decade without someone close dying is obtuse. SC

In my good old US of A one cannot get hospice care unless they've no hope of living beyond 6 months. Generally 6 weeks is closer to the truth. Not sure how it works Down Under. Alls Sir Creep knows is his Oct 23 guess needs some damn good hospicing. SC

Wikipedia isn't a news source my Guest friends. I applaud your efforts, and have had to resort to Wiki a couple times myself, but try chasing down an obit. Usually the Wiki entry has a source and a link can be found there. SirC PS also look for a proper category to toss the dead into if you can. I know not everyone is aware of all 70 of them not even me, but Hollywood and TV personalities are always posted vs maybe a chamber music composer.

DDT posted about Bob Ellis and I accidentally searched Bob Elliott, and much to my surprise discovered that that is the name of the guy from the old Bob & Ray comedy team, and he's 92! (b. 3/1923) SC

Emile Zinsou, now 96, was hospitalised in June and the outlook doesn't look particularly promising... (article is in French) Never heard of either. But I can see how someone might have said to Emile, "Are you Dahomey that is President of Benin?" SC -
I rather enjoy the topic has been launched. I've been away a bit the past few days research-wise as I have gone back to life on the oil rigs and besides 12-hr days we are in remote areas not keen on telecommunication towers. The effort using my iPhone is a bother. So well done mate!

We'll you stole my idea for a dancer thread but we had some good suggestions for subtitles and it wasn't going to be limited to ballet necessarily. But alls fair, you landed the first obit you get to call the shots. Grrr Lol SC
