So, will any Victorian see 2016? I reckon at least one will. Definitely Jerelean Talley. She's really healthy and strong for her age. On the other hand, I thought the same about Gertrude Weaver... and she lasted 5 days with the title. But the first 4 days she was fit as a fiddle. Let's see: Gertrude Weaver and the lead singer for The Weavers a couple months apart. Too bad Earl Weaver and Dennis Weaver died years ago. SC

Mentioned at least 2 times already. *Gaynes and has yet to be put on the death list if he lives to next year he is a must So all famous people over 97 have to be on the list automatically? What about an unhealthy 88 year old? SC

Not with stadiums half built already, never happen. Too late for a moral correction. Just my $0.02. Blatter in 48 hours: I am the President of Everything / I am the President of nothing. Couldn't happen to a more smug asshole. SirC

Belongs in Ironic Deaths, no? Just post links to video deaths, we're all grown-ass men and women around here. SC -
Christ , I've seen it 72 times (that I counted) and had no recollection of Rik Mayall being in't. Granted we didn't get The Young Ones over in the States til I was probably 20 (1983) and by then I quit seeing Rocky Horror. SirC

Karen DeCrow, supporter of women’s rights and gender equality, died on Friday in her home in Jamesville, New York. She was 76 years old. According to Rowena Malamud, DeCrow’s longtime friend, the women’s rights activist died from melanoma. DeCrow’s friends described her as the “perfect model” for women’s rights movement. DeCrow was the President of the National Organization for Women (NOW) from 1974 to 1977. Was all I could do to not post this in Somewhere Over the Rainbow without further evidence. Had she never changed her name I would have, as that's the fly in the ointment. Feminist, NOW, no mention of marriage/kids, and Rowena the "longtime friend"; pah-leeez. So I stuck it in this catch-all thread. SC http://www.inquisitr.com/1287912/gender-equality-trailblazer-and-feminist-lawyer-karen-decrow-dies-at-76/

This joke would have worked much better if you were able to spell. Here's a word that's quite easy to spell - TWAT. It woulda worked better if the average age of those reading the joke was 16. SC PS in the words of Monty Python, "I preferred the dirty version."

John Petersen, who gave $10M to help build the basketball arena at the University of Pittsburgh--and thus the building bears his name--has died at 86 after battling cancer. He and his wife have also given millions to the science school and for nanotechnology research and Olympic training facilities on campus. Of less dubious note, he also has the same name as my ex-brother-in-law. Seems we need a place for 'the last of the Mohicans' as it were. I recall last year the last survivor of the Hindenburg and the last surviving Navajo Code Talker dying, and they should be noted not necessarily for being terribly famous, but for the sad end of an era in the history of mankind from which first-hand accounts are no longer available. And with that, I present 98-year old Gus Villalta, who died May 26, 2015, just one day before the 78th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge's opening, and who was very likely the last living person who worked on the bridge. Haha gotta be the end where 'Ned' strips on the ice. 'Tis a shame you haven't seen the whole movie, for me it's one of the top 5 comedies made, but clearly that's a hockey thing and I fully understand opinions that I've oversold it. Actually now ---presuming you watched my clip -- you've seen two parts of the movie. SC

Who let this thread die?! This is the funniest shit I've read in months.... Years! On the verge of science discovering feasible time travel, the whole project gets bogged down in political red tape: "Interstaller". A routine military test flight reveals a far greater threat than opposing human forces when the USAF is attacked by simians at 30,000 feet: "Dawn of the Planes of the Apes". A man leaves his adoring family for a weekend holiday in Belarus only to return over a decade later: "12 Years a Slav". Ben Affleck stars as a man who is constantly linked to women who keep disappearing -- albeit little by little -- as he has a fetish for anorexia: "Bone Girl". Once the last of Angela McCourt's 'fahking cunts' (children) leaves home, she settles on three acres and begins raising livestock: "Angela's Asses". Hey it's midnight, best I could do in 15 minutes top of my head. But this thread needed rebooting. SC

So you think this was a fluke hit? Yeah, he died because his health was too robust so that he was able to move around and could be a victim of a car accident. If he had been frail and bedridden like Zsa Zsa, he might still have been alive. All the others? Not really... Sam Simon had terminal cancer and it was clear that the chemo can only buy him a few more months. Nimoy had COPD, which is also incurable; King was old and a diabetic. So all of them could be considered good picks. If you wanna criticize the committee, you might point out some glaring omissions like Pratchet (former DL candidate) or King Abdullah (clearly famous and gravely ill), but they can only list 50 names so idk. God knows I've spoken my piece about the fifty names on the DL and most of it unflattering, but calling Nimoy-Simon-King fluke hits is daft. Perfectly valid deaths. SC

Better in Reality TV thread. No one in the history of The Voice has gone on to any semblance of 'pop stardom' much less Anthony Riley. It's the most useless show on the airwaves, IMO SC

Yikes! Yes.... I ignored him in the 80s, and apparently last month too. Deleting. SC

Preface: as an 8th grade student I tested at or quite near college level for every skill....except for English-vocabulary which I tested at a 4th grade level, to which I laughed. As if. I think I just get asked words I don't know on these tests. I used to be quite good at crossword puzzles and even better at Scrabble, two activities requiring the best of vocabularies. http://testyourvocab.com/step_two?user=5338740 Alas.... 29,900, slightly below average of about 31500 for my age group. So nothing new here. And if any of you claim to know 'valetudinarian' (and used it) you may kindly fuck off. 29,900 I feel like a wog. How come they didn't ask 'wog'? SirC

My co-workers don't seem to care and probably find my DP/DL updating obtuse. But the pub I go to every couple of days, I walk in and will be briskly asked "who died today?" Or "Did you pick so-and-so?" They are genuinely interested. And then they make fun of me haha. SC
