Richard Tandy, keyboardist of ELO, has died aged 76. He’s no longer a livin’ thing.

    He’s Turned to Stone!

Bev Bevan has been part of team Gris Gris since it’s inception, but seeing as we took 2024 off, hopefully the drummer stays alive til January.

He later signed with the New York Gians in September 2021. He has also played for the New England Patriots during his NFL career.

Drafted in the first round this weekend by Team Reaper!

  3. As usual, interesting conversation occurs on my home Deadpool rather than anything here…

—‘Wow, all five original members of the Moody Blues are gone. Pinder was the last of the group's original five members.’

—‘That leaves how many people who have ever seen a mellotron?  Fripp is about it.’
—-a song offered to the group by Paul McCartney, but in the end decided the tune wasn’t right for the Moodys. Instead, Mary Hopkin recorded the song, “Those Were the Days,” and scored a worldwide smash hit.’

—“That’s amazing trivia.  Can you imagine the path they would have taken if they sang Those Were the Days?”

—‘Check this out...  "On Christmas 1969, the President of Equatorial Guinea, Francisco Macías Nguema, had 150 alleged coup plotters executed in the national stadium while the amplifier system played the Mary Hopkin recording of "Those Were the Days"."

—‘Never mind the fact that the litany of hits written by Sir Paul now includes this song.  Who knew?’

—‘Death was imperative when he sang his version of Go Now.’

—‘Needless to say they’ll likely be on tour next summer.’

Deathlist used to have actual conversations like this but those days are long gone. RIP to Deathlist.

  4. 8 April 2024 (Monday) Path of Totality.
We are about 70 miles north of Toledo, Ohio, which will have 00:01:20 of total darkness.  I would go but the traffic will be unbearable, and clouds are forecasted across much of the path (most of Texas and Ohio that I researched at least), which is sad.  Anyway, we get 98% here whatever that means.  Sir Creep works outside and relies on the sun, so probably work a half day lol

    Good luck Sir Creep.

Both of my subs were used late last night.  My joker, Sheriff Lacy Rogers, jumped the starting gun and I fell victim to one of those news bots which provided a seemingly contemporaneous account of Nicholas Lloyd Webber's critical ill health.

I turned mine in a couple hours to spare, like we do.  Didn’t have a clue my ringer had died; and I only threw Irving’s name as my sub bc I figured you would launch him yet again though I’m certain he’s fine and a liar, but I could eliminate one of your picks should the unfortunate occur, which it did. Same reason I made Harrell my joker (I knew you would) and why I listed Jimmy Carter (don’t wanna get caught w pants down should he actually die).  I did my best to make this a 6-on-6 match or so, and to that extent I’m ok with my lineup.  But they’ll either all be dead or ok by March 4th.

Vontae Davis, former NFL cornerback and 2x Pro Bowler, has been found dead aged 35.

He was perhaps most famous for abruptly retiring mid-game in 2018. Sort of a proto-Antonio Brown.

Great player, you gotta wonder why he killed himself; no outlet for his energy or anger.  Imagine slamming into opponents for 20 years and then sitting in a recliner.  CTE study in 5, 4, 3, 2…

  7. The great Chris Cross from Ultravox should be mentioned here, and now he is.  A bassist himself, Sir Creep always considered Chris a hack who played through a series of pedals.  That is until (*caution: name drop coming) he conversed with Midge Ure directly and was told no, in fact every note you hear is played by Mr Cross.  At that moment SirC had new respect for him. Ultravox has always been one of his favourite listens.

SirC never got to see Ultravox, due to cancellations more than anything else.  Sadly, this is the ultimate cancellation.

    RIP
