State Of Chaos Part 3. Lots of hand wringing. Lots of Captain Hindsights. Lots missed. The whole thing was how badly the Tories handled everything and how they ate their own. Things I'd have liked to have seen in the whole shebang. The effect on the people. The effect on foreign relations. The effect on the institutions. The effect on those abandoned in Afghanistan. Even a line such as "And with Liz Truss gone, the country is now governed by a Prime Minister without a mandate from his party or the country." Certainly not an advert for competence by the party in power. And yet... Ah well, perhaps only reducing them to a rump party, maybe even third place, might change them. It happened to Labour in Scotland. Maybe now it's time for England to awaken from its slumber. -

Also bursting out into accusation. Poirot takes everybody's evidence and nods politely, allows his grey cells to cogitate and then brings everything together. Once I started laughing at it, I couldn't stop, especially at how everyone was so terrible.

Already regretting watching the Branagh version which is on the tellybox this evening. The acting is quite simply abysmal. Everyone's posture is so odd, and they look like they know they are making a pale imitation of one of the best movies ever. Ah well, mes amis, we struggle on, do we not? I'm determined to laugh at it from this point on, treat it like a comedy version.

All very confusing - born Peter Mueller, stage named Peter Horten then changed it to Peter Horton! I think his song suffered from being a home entry as he was following up Udo Jurgens' win the previous year. Sandie Shaw won that year. Anyway, I was fascinated by the bow tie which was as wide (if not wider) as his face:

Bears' Alan Williams resigns. There's some unsavoury rumours about his real reason, which if true certainly wouldn't bode well for the health of Virginia Halas McCaskey. Anyway, I'm not about to spread idle speculation until there's corroborative reports.

Former US Senator Dick Clark of Iowa reportedly dead aged 95: https://eu.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/politics/2023/09/20/dick-clark-us-senator-iowa-dies-at-95-at-home-washington-dc-obituary/70912585007/ Seems to be a pick in the Hartlepool and ABC Deadpools, haven't yet checked the DDP. Edit: Not picked it seems.
