Death notice for Peggy Warde, who has died aged 100. http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/deaths/203599/warde Thought she might be of interest as she's the call handler who put the call through to the Queen telling her that George VI had died. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/wirral-woman-who-put-through-10622033

Donald Carr, English Test cricketer and the first ever Scavenger Hunt DP hit, dies aged 89. http://www.espncricinfo.com/england/content/story/1025733.html Edit: Also on the DDP, he is mentioned in the Telegraph at the moment, but I'll await a better static source as it is included in the live coverage of ENGvSRI -

Pay per view? It's what he'd want. I keep thinking of the Italian version of Brucie surrounded by glamourpuss nurses; "Imma such a lucky Jack, Ever since my heart attack, And now inna uniforms so revealing, Ok dollies, do your healing!"

I'd be worried if I was you, he looks like some lesbian. Maybe it was the haircut he had. I have been looking, but as I say, nobody has really energised my fantasies. Hoping for better as the tourney progresses.

I'm calling Wales to top that group, the rest can fight it out for second. Needless to say I'm probably more interested in the rough trade footballer. Still to see one I'd bring home, mind, though the Swiss captain caught my eye.

Thanking you, Cat, was hoping it would be a mahoosive death notice, but I'll save that for later. -
Ah, that's not cricket. Changing one's vote on subsequent news....not the way to do it. Edit: Post #3000 - Triple Twunted...

The EU Referendum Hokey Cokey
YoungWillz replied to YoungWillz's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
You forgot to add there's tons of thick, very easily swayed people in this country who love to get frightened about the wrong thing. Hmm, I think the major difference with the Scottish Indy Ref is that yes, there is the usual status quo argument but the other inbuilt issue is that older people are more likely to vote. Now while that works magnificently in normal referendums, the general direction of travel for older folk is to vote Leave. That is because for them the status quo is interference by the EU in an idealistic interpretation of Great Britain. The status quo for older folk seems to be that Britain that lasted for centuries before someone somewhere decided to subsume them to European (=German) rule. Still think it's too close to call. -
Former President of RIBA Michael Manser has died aged 87. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/1c0e41f4-2e3e-11e6-a18d-a96ab29e3c95.html J G Ballard often described Manser's Hilton Hotel at Heathrow Terminal 4 as his favourite building, apparently.

The EU Referendum Hokey Cokey
YoungWillz replied to YoungWillz's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Interesting that while Remain is busy banging on about peace and stability that the EU has brought, they bring out Blair who totally disregarded any EU position and took this country into Iraq. Additionally, maybe it's just me, but I'd have thought any previous PM who claimed that at least one-third of the jobs he created were going to foreign nationals might have lost a vote of confidence and perhaps have been strung up from a lamppost in the past - apparently that's ok now. And Andrew Neil absolutely destroyed George Osborne in his interview with him the other night. Meantime, the more positive news for the Remain side is...well, has there been any? Maybe the rush to register to vote. I'm actually finding it hard to give some balance here.
