Came across a reference to Nana Juaben Serwaa II who is listed in the DDP, and who apparently died in 2013? http://juabenserwaa.com/ For what it's worth. Incidentally, I think the picture in the DDP is actually that of her mother who has been dead since the 50s I think.

I know, that's why it's in this thread, the scans are all over the place too. Knocked it up in 10 minutes tbh.

On the Eighth of October National Poetry Day Thirty nine were still standing Eleven passed away. The record was close Within touching distance And yet some would question The Committee's brilliance. Though it's true to say Including Bill Maynard Would seem to have been A bit of a wild card. And as for Mr Large First name is Eddie There is no sense of danger He's still going steady. The low hanging fruit It seems to be Far from falling away Is still stuck to the tree. Clive James is still living Val Harper's still fine And a rhyme for the Thai King? Well he's Rama IX. There just isn't a sign Joost Van Der Westhuizen Is going anywhere yet (Tho he may suffer some bruisin'). Billy Graham won't die "He'll live to one hundred!" Or so says his son "Here, the Reaper has blundered!" de Havilland, de Cuellar Prince Philip and Schmidt Despite their ages Are still grooving with it. Wouk is still writing Vera and Doris still singing Of Henry Kissinger Sounds like he is still Kissing. Crowe, Molinaro And still plenty more Are likely to die Before Zsa Zsa Gabor. Before we forget Let us all still remember There's plenty of days 'Til the end of December. So be of good cheer All you Listers and guests While there's still breath in your lungs And hearts beat in your chests. We shall beat the record Of that I am sure Just as death is a certainty There is simply no cure. Join with me comrades! Let us all pump our fists! For if they live this year They'll be on next year's lists!

Interesting - Thailand has a National Anthem and a Royal Anthem. National Anthem still played twice a day I understand. Wiki indicates - though it's a dead link - that a citizen faced lese majeste charges for failing to stand for the Royal Anthem in 2008. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sansoen_Phra_Barami

..... Well fuck. Who wants to fly with me to Thailand and assassinate the old bastard? Patience, patience Grasshopper. Remember Cardinal Francis George? The King will soon drop like a ripe piece of fruit. I hope you don't mean he will splat on the ground to be picked over by rats and starlings..... No, they seem to think a lot of him in Thailand. I'm sure they'll pick him up. I'm not sure that's entirely true. There's a law in Thailand where you'll receive a custodial sentence if you speak out about the monarchy. Perhaps it's not that people think highly of him, but more that they're afraid to say what they truly think. Tongue Thai'd?

Sorry to hear Y-Dub. Must have been something in the water yesterday because last night my Facebook page blew up about one of the guys I shot pool with for two seasons, he also being about 45, having died suddenly. I'm not at home so it's conjecture but I understand he had a massive stroke, on Saturday, and family took him off life-support last night. It's maddening, and like every death we post, a reminder we are all on borrowed time. SC And I'm sorry to hear about your pool buddy Sir C. My condolences to you. I have now heard about the funeral - "mixture of traditional and bright colours" dress code - I hate that specification, it says "comes as a clown" to me. Looks like I'll just do the dull suit and wear a red bow tie - I've owned one since the 80s, long before Stephen Moffatt asked his characters to say they were cool. And before you ask, no, it's not a spinning one. -
I actually thought last weekend's episode was one of the best so far - great effects but old school story and necessary cliffhanger - maybe the new generation of fanboys and girls need to get their fingers out of their pants - this is not a show to masturbate to, no matter how "pretty" the stars should be in their opinion - and learn to concentrate on a story for a decent length of time. But hey, what can you expect in a world where a six second vine is the epitome of good storytelling? Or a reality show presents half or a quarter of a song or act upon which your entire existence is judged?
