Actually quite impressed with Daisy Cooper so far. By all accounts she was an effective communicator on Question Time too. Tell you what, the Lib Dems are having a bloody good election campaign. Carla Denyer’s doing well to talk about policy and avoid scraps. Flynn and Rayner are good at scraps. Farage and Mordaunt are stuck in scrap mode. ap Iorwerth appears to just want a lovely chat and a coffee.
-
Gosh. I fear for Mordaunt’s mental health. I’m being serious, I genuinely hope that when she loses her seat she seeks therapy; she’s so brimming with fury and hatred you can see it eating her up. She might not be completely beyond help like, say, Farage.

Anyone know if the Tories missed the deadline anywhere? Given last minute withdrawals and the fact they had around 200 empty spots 48 hours ago...
-
Time for another GE result prediction based on a poll? Go on then. WeThink Polling (6-7 Jun) has this: Sunak's recent antics could mean we see more and more predictions like this.
-
On Betfair, the odds of the Tories getting less than 20% of the vote share is down to 13/8, and them getting 50 seats or fewer is at an Odds Boost of 6/1. Not an ad (please gamble responsibly), just a point of interest/amusement. Though I might have a flutter.

Well these should all be on 21, and Toast appears to have fallen asleep so congratulations to her for not being an insomniac like me. -

Sound and Vision is a serious candidate for game winner imo. HDIYL is lovely. The rest can bugger off as far as I’m concerned. -

Well, I tried to pounce on that in the hope that some would follow and others would surely finally get going with the piped bullshit from Oldfield, but neither fucking happened so sod all of it -
If three Reform MPs is the price for the Lib Dems being His Majesty's Official Opposition, I think I'm here for it. Maybe Davey can do a bit of juggling while going head-to-head with Keir Starmer at PMQs.
-
Quite. I think in my life I've had more conversations which have fleetingly mentioned Dr Michael Mosley than VS Achuthanandanananandandanandan.

Speaking of shite, what the living FUCK is Mike Oldfield still doing there? -
I know him as 'that bloke off of fad diets everycunt talks about for about 15 minutes'. He was only reported missing yesterday so maybe he's gonna do a 5:2 and turn up tomorrow.

The BMJ article says excess deaths were at just over 1m in 2020 (when the virus properly hit), 1.25m in 2021 (when the virus peaked) and went down to 800k in 2022 (while the vaccine roll out was underway but by no means complete in the 47 countries the study looked at). Looking closer at 2022, excess deaths were almost down to pre-pandemic levels in March-June, then rose in July as Omicron BA4 and BA5 spread across multiple European countries, particularly those with a smaller vaccine uptake. Thanks for the actually rather good (as per PROMPT) source. At least we can reference properly when when we conclude that you are utterly incapable of interpreting information correctly.

Let's make it interesting. -
Fucking good job, Gillian. Everyone else sat on their arse and did nothing.

Ah yes, I assumed they'd already transferred Holden to the newly created seat (Blaydon and Consett, upon checking). Liz Twist was Labour's MP for the other half of what that constituency used to be and she's all but guaranteed to win this new one.
-
My neighbouring constituency. Almost certainly a Tory hold; they've got one heck of a majority over Labour and the Greens are fighting it very hard. Have they got some pondlife lined up to replace Holden in the doomed North West Durham seat?

It's so simple! A cup is 236.6ml for liquids, 110g for sifted flour, 200g for granulated sugar, 100g for icing sugar, 190g for uncooked rice, 150g for chopped nuts, 120g for ground nuts... I'm being facetious and cups are the silliest fucking measurement in existence. I skip past all recipes that measure anything in cups. Stupid cunts.
