I was going to make a smart ass comment about levels of sobriety as related to perceptions, blah, blah, but then I got curious. Here's your light reading for the evening. Do bubbles in Guinness go down? Do they sink down the glass in the Southern Hemisphere as well, or do they rise??

As tasty as this sounds, unfortunately I was unable to follow the recipe, as my stove struggled to get my oil to the requisite 375 degrees C. This does seem to be a little on the warm side, seeing as it's past the melting point of zinc, close to the melting point of aluminium and I'd be unable to test whether I've reached it or not, due to the mercury in my thermometer having just boiled. Oh, hang on, those were in imperial US measurements... Now, if I could just find an online converter to tell me how long a US minute is. That would depend on what state you're having your minute in .... f'rinstance a New York Minute is quicker, say, than a Pennsylvania minute and so forth. Of course there has been a great deal of debate about exactly how long that is. The late Johnny Carson described it as the interval between when the traffic light turns green and the guy behind you starts honking his horn. -
American Midol. Hear contestants as they try their best to be versatile by bellowing through numbers for which their voices and personalities are the least suited. It's enough to make you want to leave the country.

Thank you for that update , Devon , because Yar'Adua is my unique pick on DDP. Unfortunately, I did something I never do: look up a disease on the internet. Churg Strauss , despite sounding like a forgotten sib of Johann, isn't really something you want to deal with since it affects either the lungs and heart or kidney and liver. Per Wiki, it's always found in individuals with a previous history of allergies (yours truly). -

This problem has so many angles that legislation might not solve everything, but I guess it really wouldn't hurt to give it a shot try. We North Americans are a fractious lot, though, remember? Would the result of banning guns be the same as banning, say, booze? We tried that once by amending the Constitution. This resulted in an episode known as The Roaring Twenties. Great music, love those hats and flapper outfits, but people continued to drink alcohol. The only difference was that people were buying their liquor from different sources. So I'm wondering if the same sort of thing would happen here if we banned guns?

Most Significant Death For Every Year From 1963 To Present
Madame Defarge replied to chicago103's topic in DeathList Forum
My vote goes to Edmund Hillary. While Charleton Heston played heroes and adventurers in Hollywood extravaganzas , Edmund Hillary was a hero in real life. But it all really boils down to one's frame of reference and interests. Still I'm a bit surprised that Suharto wasn't more well known. But not nearly as surprised as when I found out who another Deathlist candidate was. I saw him on the list , then just skipped to the next name, and until he died I thought Francis Pym must be some sort of obscure British porn star. Edit - P.S. Sorry for the echo, Twelvetrees, I wandered off in the middle of posting that and you had already posted. (and said it more betterer too.) -

I remember you said you had a Master's Degree. I'm sure that if you and your friends had not been so busy preparing your theses, you would have recognized those names in a minute! Everyone in the US knew Hillary....Suharto not so much (only political and/or deathlist junkies) pot, kettle, black, etc.. -

I looked up my team to see if the points were there, and ..... there was the little man with the funny colored hat. I forgot that at the last minute I had switched the Joker to Charleton Heston from Omar Abdel Rahman. Will wonders never cease?
