    Gerald Ford

Decorated and distinguished pilot in WW2 and a fairly successful CIA career before he was president. He's done a lot others couldn't do. I think you're struggling to prove Bush's idiocy. Rather like others - Thatcher, Blair - there's no disputing his basic intelligence. Now when it comes to arguing if he was misguided or just plain wrong a few times................

    Larry Hagman

Yeah, but nowhere near as long as David Crosby's new liver. I'm willing to bet if that liver could have understood that David Crosby was waiting it would have joined a union and tried to avoid it's new home.

    Charlie Drake.

Ooh, now this is gonna call for some hard thinking and a complicated answer...... got it: the answer is 'Yes.' So long as you stick to identifying and presenting verifiable information you're on solid ground.

    Gerald Ford

True enough but if I had to pick it'd be Bush Jnr!

    Joan Rivers, Please Lord

For as long as we have overpaid, under-talented bullshitters who think themselves somehow more important than the rest of humanity I hope we also have people like Joan Rivers.

    Say What You Please

BS, I trawl the DL in deep admiration of your wit and intelligence but where low grade football is concerned it strikes me you're talking BS. There is disappointment and then there is CUFC 91/92, trust me, I'm an expert in these matters.

    Say What You Please

Mike Graham's performance in the final half of the 91/92 season is unquestionably my most painful memory as a Carlisle supporter.

    Charlie Drake.

I wouldn't swear by the following but: Legally speaking you're on very dodgy ground as there's no evidence CD sought or enjoyed the experience. The smattering of good news for you is in his health and reputation. Anyone fighting his legal corner would have to prove he had any reputation left to lose - possible since you're defaming his character and therefore possibly limiting the value of his existing work - but still not a given, legally speaking. Useful precedents on their side would be the plummeting value of the work of Gary Glitter and Jonathan King over the last few years. Also, there would be some pressure on his side - legally speaking - to show he supported the action and it would therefore be incumbent on his legal team to gather evidence that he understood any court proceedings. Incidentally, Charlie would be under no obligation to take the stand himself once said evidence was produced.

    Dennis Waterman

You'd get longish odds on George Cole at the moment so if you put in a good bet it'd be a 'nice little earner.'

    Gerald Ford

If there's a God he's likely to spare Carter for a while and claim Ford and Bush Snr. Just my opinion, like.

    Treasonable Politicians

Guys, has anyone seen Josco, I've been trying to text him for over an hour, hang on there's someone at my door, back in a minute.............................

Serious Contenders for Next Years List

If we could count 'life' other than individual people I think Veritas: the political party founded by Robert Kilroy Silk to fight the 2005 election, will die in 2006 when every annual subscription runs out. Put it this way: the web site is up for sale.

    The Death Penalty

I'm in favour of the death penalty for surviving DLters still breathing on the 31st of December in any given year.

    A Joke

Q - Why did the baker have brown hands? A - Cos he kneaded a S**t!

    Stephen Hawking

Isn't he the guy from Little Britain
  16. maryportfuncity

    George Best

Arf arf. Presumably people are aware - re football - that Arthur Anderson, as in the very old scotsman, was there when the British and German troops played football at Christmas 1914. Arthur himself opted not to turn out.

    Brooke Astor

I think this should be a lesson to the likes of me. Clearly B.A. didn't get rich frittering her money away on bets about the likely dates of death of the elderly. Not that I'm gonna risk more but I'm now of the opinion she'll see 2006.

    Richard Pryor

Doubtful I'd say. Surely there are 50 more likely if we look amongst the postings over on the forum.
  19. maryportfuncity

    George Best

Someone already posted the one about the butchers and 'Best liver for sale' further up this thread.
  20. maryportfuncity

    Dennis Waterman

Not sure he's in such bad shape. He's also pretty busy working, including an appearance in the latest series of Little Britain.
  21. maryportfuncity

    PJ Proby

So the man has issues and is prone to losing some of the plot (heh heh), always a good sign when we're looking to shorten the DL odds.
  22. maryportfuncity

    Saddam Hussein

The former prime minister - ie the guy elected after the war - now reckons the place is as lawless and indefensible on human rights as it was under Saddam.
  23. maryportfuncity

    Jeffrey Archer

A mate of mine in the media industry rates Archer as the single most objectionable individual - as in arrogant, insensitive, massive ego/little talent - he's ever met. Since he's met many others you'd stick in that category this is worth taking on board. However, Archer's a former athlete who's kept himself in shape so his health seems assured for years to come.
  24. maryportfuncity

    Albert Hofmann

I think any Richard O' Sullivan fans, exploring the sight, would struggle with most of the above.
  25. maryportfuncity

    Denis Healey

Not much sign of that gloating post since August 30th. Does anyone have any inside information that might help us assess him for 2006?
