Met him and had a lengthy conversation once, he had a habit of turning up at the oddest events. He was incredibly well informed on areas like the paranormal and well read on a range of research about things like mystery animals; which is - more or less - how we came to meet. Had a library of tens of thousands of tomes, apparently. But the obits will doubtless concentrate on the television stunts.

She'll get at least fleeting news coverage so she'd qualify for the current 'obit' rules on HPDP and DDP.

Seen Any Good Films Lately?

Oh right, I'd obviously misheard the stuff on radio about the movie. I thought it was about the miseries of getting old and was called 'No C*** for Old Men.' I'll see meself out, obviously. -
The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous

Steve Smith, dropped over 18m on the lottery and packs a heart condition that could see him off in seconds. A death that would be reported in all the tabloids as and when. Assuming he's breathing on New Years Eve I think he's worth fielding on the 09 DDP. -
-------------------------------------------------------- Whats black and white and goes to bed hungry? heath ledgers cat. -------------------------------------------------- What's the difference between Heath Ledger and this joke? Heath Ledger won't get buried in ten minutes. -------------------------------------------------------- 'Will these sleeping tablets work, doc' said Heath Ledger. 'Yep son,' said the doc,' you'll be dead to the world in no time.

George Shearing, older and much less healthy than yer man Brubeck is still gannin' as well. Old George would be a much better deadpool pick, probably. -
Habash Guardian obit, a lesson in objectivity, or summat.

So the Beatles never reunited before, and they're going to do it to give publicity to people who spend their free time bombing Arab children. I don't think so. If they reunite now that would mean Yoko taking some of the lead vocals. Would Israel thank them for that in the long run?

Laugh along with Achmed the Dead Terrorist. -
Cyprian Ekwensi brought 'world acclaim to Nigerian literature' apparently. Be honest, how many of us worldly DL'ers known next to nowt about Cyprian?
-
Wonder which will be greater, the ructions and political machinations in the Greek Orthodox Church or the Richter Scale registering of deadpool points on our man Christodoulos. That's my number one on the HPDP sorted!

Home soon! Or - at least - in a secure unit near his home.

T.S. Elliot's widow.. Would be a scoring pick on DDP like Barboroli's widow. B 1926. -
Wittman is fielded by: With Kackers offering the man up as a joker. It's looking bleak. Then again, someone might write an article on Canadian sports for the Sports magazine of The Observer, or summat and give us the all-important 'mention' required for scoring. 11 months to go....

Belated Burns night joke: Q - Why do scotsmen have blue penises? A - Cos they're tight-fisted w**nkers! You can see Scotland very clearly from Maryport you know.

It's a lottery, voted Ford cos it'd be a bonus to get two in quick succession for my under-performing CPDP theme team.

Tell all autobiography in the works. Expected later this year. -
Another motor sports related death with Tony Ambrose. If only such major figures as this 74 year old former co-driver would stop dying we might just see Don Wittman written up somewhere.

S'cuse me for dragging the thread back on topic but one pleasing fact about our ex-moonwalkers is that some of them have an internet presence and allow us to study form. Age hasn't slowed Edwin Aldrin down a whole lot. By the looks of this he's still buzzin'.
-
Try telling that to Buzz:

Yeah, I've read it, great book. Re the quote above: does that mean reading the book makes people more like you SC? Can't say I'd noticed this particular result when I read it.

Sounds a bit like ME, some researchers suggest the aching limbs etc might be down to exposure to CO2. Doubt it'll kill her, mind. -
Wittman obit in International Herald Tribune quoting an AP feed. So near, and yet so far for DDP. He nudged into last place in the Carkers Convention team I filed, only because Benazir Bhutto failed to start.

12 men walked on the Moon, Nine Moonwalkers are still alive from 72 year old Charles Duke to 78 year old Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin. We're fast running out of Great War vets and Titanic survivors, here's another bunch to keep an eye on. 'Buzz' has had his battles with alcohol, a couple of the others have found God, all worth watching IMHO. Wiki page has a table halfway down with links to the page for each moonwalker.

Is that a barrel I see before me, pass that f*****g scraper NOW!! Seriously; this isn't the end, he'll be newsworthy for a few more days, then revived when he transfers to a UK unit whereupon he might also be a target for a fellow inmate. Then, of course, he'll be out in a few years. DDP fodder, maybe.
