    Edward Heath

I have a vague memory of Tebbit's moan. I think he was making a good point as far as he saw it and not the kind of point he'd usually stretch to. Wasn't his comment prompted by a few events like Harvey Proctor being accosted in his shirt shop and Steven Millican forgetting the quality control on his autoerotic experiments? I think the Chingford Skinhead's point was that Ted - whilst certainly gay - tended to keep the policies in the public eye and the marmite drilling in the bedroom, a lesson Norm thought some of his parliamentary colleagues could usefully learn.

Second one is entirely possible but - as of yet - our wantaway goal machine Karl 'the hit man' Hawley hasn't been linked by rumour to Raydale Park.

Nervous Breakdowns- Who's Had One And How??

That's a bigger question than you're making out there Godot. There are those - like sci-fi writer Philip K Dick - who arguably based their careers on a permanent breakdown and would have been nothing without their ongoing struggles for sanity. I used to love PKD's books until I read the definitive biography and realised he was never in line with the rest of us. What looks like insight and imagination is in some cases simple autobiography. His so called 'mainstream' novels are dodgy at best and all five of his ex-wives said he was hard work!

The life's over the disgrace just keeps on comin'. Wasted on politics, he should've been a footy manager.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2007

    Deep Purple

Re the 'any one' pick. Would any one member of Deep Purple be acceptable? 12 musicians in total have been in that band, one - Tommy Bolin - is long dead. None of the others are looking like dying so far as I can see but they're in late middle age. This would mean any one from Don Airey, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Roger Morse (the current band) plus Jon Lord, David Coverdale, Glenn Hughes, Ritchie Blackmore, Rod Evans and Nick Semper

    2007 DL Nominations Please

Run Run Shaw: 100 year old Asian media mogul. Famous enough to count for our purposes and the kind of character who might prompt some interesting debate, a la Al Lewis, since his surprising traits include patronage of education.

    Edward Heath

Maybe nowt, he WAS gay, certainly by inclination and did keep a flat in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral where his dalliances with at least one regular boyfriend were an open secret to a few. Having said that, the general consensus when he died was that more would emerge but it seems - now - highly likely that confidentiality he managed to maintain kept a lid on any real evidence and nobody wants to publish hearsay, or summat. Said boyfriend is - apparantly - still alive. Can't say I know who he is, but this is probably the person one or two newspaper editors refer to.

If we nominate Thatcher does that count as a real Nazi?

    The Canadian Paul Deadpool

CP: I only allowed your team MPFC to see how it would fare against, you know, creative teams. Next year it will certainly be disallowed. Next year I'm considering a team of famous animals, you know retired race horses, alcoholic chimps owned by Michael Jackson, stuff like that. Is that okay? Incidentally, the points system and the rest, plus the fact that my team clearly have some damn good genes, don't give it the advantage some people seem to think. Lara -double anal; rip, oh sh*t there goes my career and maybe my life, I guess I'll move back to CANADA where I came from - Roxx would be worth a double death against some members of my oldsters.

Mebbe it was started to make Josie Grove's thread look acceptable.

    The Canadian Paul Deadpool

Very controversial nowt. If it's okay with CP it's okay, since he had the list well ahead of time. What I gain in liklihood of death I'm losing on low points per death. I only got five for Beachell because he was a unique pick. He was out there, old and infirm and available for anyone else to spot.

    Edward Heath

No we wouldn't he's outed when - and only when - someone goes public and says; 'I saw him spend a night in a man, and we ain't talking about that city in Jordan!' Personally, I think he may avoid this on the basis of the quote above that suggests he was so weird conventional sexuality didn't come into it.

Not having a lot of luck here. Henry Beachell's been dead over half a week, one of my old and in the way team, still struggling to find an obit. I'm figuring some serious minded newspaper in Canada might've done one, but I don't know which are Canada's top papers.

    World's Oldest

Aye, one or two of us spotted her a while back. Kinda useful in the CPDP, since she's female and Canadian.

    Brooks Mileson

Evening News and Star this week reported that 36 year old Dale Brotherton, the chairman who's taking Workington Reds from the brink of bankruptcy to the brink of the Conference is stepping down on health grounds. Severe chest pains and the rest saw him off. Brooks would tell ya, running a footy club in the NW isn't for the nervous.

If people are interested in some of the nonentities we discuss Heath is definitely of interest. If only on t'internet (as we call it oop north). It surprises me that he hasn't even been outed on line.

    2007 DL Nominations Please

Skinny models do their liver and kidneys no favours, a few years down the line such a creature could be an inspired pick.

    Lyndsey Hunter

Would Mrs Hunter - I wonder - be even vaguely interested in any of us. Our earning power collectively probably falls short of her late husband. Looking at some avatars on offer we can't hold a candle to him in looks and plenty of us are female, not something she seems to 'do' sexually speaking. Just sayin' like.

    2007 DL Nominations Please

Bugger, lit the fire, chilled out and missed some lively debate on this thread prompted by my suggestions. All good stuff, thanks for yer opinions. Re Ms Hughes, I take the 'not famous enough' argument on the chin but she's just about in there. Own wiki page and that. My main reason for pushing her is that she's almost the sort of banker pick Lou Rawles gave us last year. At least, the last rumour I heard said she was. Put it this way, I'm guessing Wham's 'Last Christmas' is banned in her house at the moment.

    Not Exactly Famous...

oohhh.....as a chess player , this is one I could go to town about . I never met Jessie , but I've read a few bits and bobs (that wont have made the national press) For what its worth , in my (uninformed ) opinion ..... 1. Chess players are very unstable 2.Good chess players are TOTALLY unstable 3. Rape allegations are VERY difficult to prove 4. If the person alleging the rape is no longer alive , it is VERY , VERY difficult to prove 5. The verdict in this particular case was easy to predict . 6. You have to feel immense sympathy for Jessie...so sad...whatever the circumstances . I accept all of the above but her mother is in the press today saying she believed her. Hmmm!

    The Chequered Flag

He was a charger and a man who gave entertainment to millions of F1 fans, sad news indeed OoO. Saw a film once of him winning the Italian GP in a Ferrari. The Italian fans loved it.
