one dead Gerry Adams & Martin McGuinness
maryportfuncity replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
Adams goes public about the IRA laying down their arms again! I.e. wouldn't it be nice if all the criminal psychopaths and gangsters started to 'do' politics. The man has earned respect from republicans but he's asking a lot of some dangerous nutters these days. You never know..... -
We've got votes......let's do him!

I think there should be a state funeral for Tony Blair sometime in the next few weeks as well.
-
The only place he's still alive is this site. C'mon guys, get the red line up and claim VICTORY. I'll be devastated if I find you taking Easter off. Could've sworn death was at 24/7365 occupation.
-
When he does eventually die how are they gonna survive at Glastonbury, he goes down a storm there every year.
-
There is now. The homepage makes it clear he's already bucked the odds and is showing signs of improvement. What presence eh?

I wonder....what are the chances of the Maharishi outliving all four Beatles?

Sorry if my post confused you HCW. The question was how come a 'name' DJ ended up pegging out in a hospital near Dartford, Kent. Roughly speaking, the arse end of the UK. I couldn't imagine a guy with Vance's career record and cash reserves choosing to live anywhere nearby. Turns out I was right, he was passing through when he suffered a stroke and he never recovered. Meaning he never returned to his swish and expensive apartment in London's docklands.

One other thing I should've mentioned is that with notable exceptions like Phil Hill and Mario Andretti Americans have been conspicious under-achievers in Formula 1. Some highly rated drivers like Dan Gurney, Richie Ginther and Michael Andretti have come with glowing reviews and departed with poor results. Since Mario Andretti a quarter of a century ago no American has got within sight of the Championship. Maybe there's a conspiracy to stop Americans getting close to the title and save the lives of their team mates.

Re: his finger, it was a running joke with him and he told several stories and gags about it, the one about his dad chopping wood being one the best. Others included waking up alone in a supposedly haunted cottage, feeling something crawling up the blankets, grabbing and biting it and ending up losing a finger. He also claimed it had been shot off, lost up his nose and..... He was a secretive man so maybe someone will give us the definitive account now he's not around.

I was amazed to discover he died in the Darent Valley Hospital. Does anyone know where he was living at the time of his death.

Let's get a grip here. Syd's story has many positives. Not least being the care and attention shown him. David Gilmour - who replaced him in the band - in particular has made sure Syd is well looked after and despite the fact that he doesn't exactly hide around Cambridge he gets left alone more than you'd think. One biographer got to meet him and the final chapter of Madcap suggests he lives a fairly stable life albeit never having recovered totally from his mental health problems. I don't think the odds against him have come down that far, despite the diabetes.

She had breast cancer in 'Dallas.' Very moving scenes after the operation....'Oh Jock, I feel deformed' etc.

f**k! I've laughed my way through thread after thread on here but I love Edwyn Collins -got loads of the old records. Think I'll have a blast of 'You Can't Hide Your Love Forever' to cheer me up.

Re Kurt The great man is on BBC 2 tonight - 10 Feb - 7-8 on The Culture Show. Worth staying in for.

The link above is pure class, greatly enjoyed in my office!

I'm tellin' ya now, Reagan's safe at the top for a few years yet. His nearest challenger can't possibily rack up another four years on this list. Especially since he's barred next year after two consecutive appearances. For the Pope to hit 15 years he'd have to be alive for a nomination in 2011 - NO WAY!
-
All a bit vague this isn't it. Look at the whole thread another way and her imminent demise is little short of wishful thinking - understandably - on the part of the many people she's annoyed over the years. The one strong bit of evidence is that her rent-a-gob appearances have been thin on the ground for ages, not like her at all.
-
His staying power always did defy the odds. I reckon he's something of a long shot at a mere 87, especially since he looked fairly alert and fit on Sports Personality of the Year in December 2004. The final furlong may be a year or two away, or did some tipster slip the nominations board a bit of inside information?

In her own words "I am not technical,' crazy lady. I'd completely forgotten her. I'm assuming from the tone of the posts so far that she is definitely still alive.

Is Anny Ondra - i.e. Mrs Max Schmelling - still around?
-
I reckon two things will keep him going: 1 - Outliving Thatcher, totally agree with the above post. 2 - The thought of what people will say when he finally dies. He's long been at the top of lists of people that others want to 'out.' In there with Sir Cliff and several other long-term batchelors.

Re Patrick, if anyone's still following this thread. His death might bring about a final solution to one of UFOlogy's longest running mysteries. In the late 50's a book called 'Flying Saucer From Mars' by Cedric Allingham had a brief moment of glory. It's transparent rubbish and a fairly obvious re-write of a story by an American called George Adamski. Patrick Moore has long been suspected of masterminding the 'joke.'Especially since he continued talking about the book in his debunking of UFO stories long after the rest of the world seemed to have forgotten it.

Given the somewhat random nature of musical collaborations we probably can't make an accurate prediction. However, there are some uncanny cases of relatives going into the same business and meeting the same end. Fathers and sons being the oddest examples. Best all round probably being Antonio and Alberto Ascari. Two fast and flashy racing drivers, both killed in hard to explain accidents on fast left hand bends days after surviving other accidents, both 36 at the time of their death. I posted earlier on this forum about the fact that the only two Americans to win the F1 title both won their championships - 1961 and 78 - following accidents at the Italian Grand Prix that killed the only other driver in line for the title. Both drivers killed were the team mates of the new champions and both accidents involved British world champions who were later cleared of blame after legal investigations. Bowie/Bolan/Crosby isn't really in the same league of spookiness.

Gazza is loud and angry about the fact that one paper suggested he might have AIDS. Denies it outright. However, his immune system has obviously taken some abuse. Maybe his liver is struggling after years of abuse.
