Japanese comic writer Keiji Nakazawa, whose experience of surviving Hiroshima was the inspiration for his work Barefoot Gen, has died of lung cancer. I found out of his illness a few months back through sheer luck - I was bored and browsing through various Wiki pages on people who experienced the atomic bombings - and thus him on my planned DDP team (which I have not sent yet) in hopes that his interesting backstory and the success of his work would be enough to warrant an obit. -
Terrible month to be an Oscar.
-
Fine by me if slightly means enough to get him through another week.

Pagano is now said to have beaten the disease and is well enough to resume his coaching duties. -
I heartily approve of the latter theme team, the name especially. He's dead.

There's at least one UK criminal who made it to 100: http://en.wikipedia..../Constance_Kent A search for "constance kent telegram" will bring up mentions that George VI sent her one for her centennial.

I'll be joining in for this year.

Larry L. King, the playwright who wrote The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. (not to be confused with that million-year-old TV dude) -
Visiting Washington again to pay last respects to Daniel Inouye. Looks better in the pic than he did earlier in the month, but mostly since he didn't want to use a wheelchair on this occasion: Health observations aside I'm not gonna lie, can't help but feel sad looking at that pic.

Assad's interior secretary Mohammad al-Shaar is in a Lebanese hospital as a result of bombing injuries, though said injuries aren't thought to be critical.

I think he had a nice lunch with Peter Falk recently, or something like that.

The Swedish Chef must be devastated.

As it stands I got 15 "definitely gonna be on" picks. 9 others I'm debating on including Borgonovo and Nolan who will more likely than not end up on my team, but won't regard as shoe-ins just yet in case some other names turn up...

Who Should Be On The 2013 Deathlist?
Death Impends replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList Forum
I think a good top 10 could be Chavez, Mandela, Cecil, Winner, Clive James, Biggs, Jaruzelski, Dole... then some of the elderly regulars like Douglas I guess. -
Breaking news that Daniel Inouye has died. Though he was old and in hospital it's still a shame to hear IMO, I had much respect for his service during WWII.

Classy son of his Cameron takes a beating in prison, suffering a broken leg and fingers.

While Besse Cooper held her title for an amazingly long time, Dina Manfredini couldn't even handle two weeks: She's a goner, passing the torch to Jiroemon Kimura.

Living cartoon character Kim Jong-il became a dead cartoon character today -
I have a nice and hefty list of potentials. Roughly 25 of them are in the running for my team at this point and those are the ones I scrutinize most closely though I also check up on the larger list to see if any have had changes in health or circumstances.

Blimey, for once the woman gets all the attention! I imagine there's no obit? Not like it'll matter much, not picked for 2012...
