Only living Australian-based veteran John Campbell Ross turned 110 two days ago. His daughter said that he was "frail but otherwise in good health, eating well and not taking any medication." And on the first anniversary of his death, Lazare Ponticelli was Wikipedia's daily featured article... not the most major news but a nice little tidbit.

The living ones I could find at first glance, ordered by birth. I'm not going to go in depth, this is just what I saw from the Wiki article for Band of Brothers. Anyone who has more can expand. Frank Perconte (b. March 10 1917) Richard Winters (b. January 21 1918) Joseph A. Lesniewski (b. August 29 1920) Lynn "Buck" Compton (b. December 31, 1921) Donald Malarkey (b. 1921) William Guarnere (b. April 28 1922) Edward Heffron (b. May 16, 1923) Darrell "Shifty" Powers (b. 1923)

Harvey has tuned out.

Some of the other reports also claim that he has bone cancer. If true, he's not likely to make it much past his 86th birthday, which is too bad. A class act, from what I've heard. It looks like said cancer could've been the result of mold in his house.

I was going to go Teddy Kennedy, but you ignore DDT at your peril. I'll hitch my wagon to RS. I went with him as well for the heck of it, but I think that in reality one of the living cancer picks will go next.

For what it's worth, she's been the first female hit on DL since Brooke Astor about 1 1/2 years ago.

A seat on the DL committee awaits, Anubis. Indeed. Wilfred Bramble and William Hartnell spring to mind... Let's not forget Bette "Picked, Removed, Died, Picked Again" Davis.
