Deathlist Dreaming
Death Impends replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I just had a dream where Suharto finally died and Albert Hofmann was confirmed to have died a bit earlier in January, which resulted in DeathList 2008 having three hits already. -
Carl Karcher of Carl's Jr. fame dead. I believe his death marks the first person to die this year who was picked on DDP in 2007, but not 2008.
-
I accept cash or cheque. Come on now, have the Russians ever lied? EDIT: OK, so they lied about Castro. And communism. Anyhow, here's a translator if you'd like. I'm suspicious about them, so I'll wait for an English-language obituary.

Jose "Pepin" Bello, a Spanish writer who influenced Salvador Dali, dead at 103.
-
The cause of his death: heart attack.
-
Suharto per everyone else.
-
Carter is still in good health and very active. I highly doubt he'll die anytime soon.
-
Suharto's condition goes up and down and up and down... just let it go all the way down and get it over with!
-
Several forums, such as this and this, say that Albert's wife, Anita, died on December 20, 2007. I don't know if it's true, as I don't see any news sources, but if she is in fact dead, I wonder what will happen to Albert.
-
Also you'll have to archive 2007.
-
The verified veterans count goes down to 18, as Erich Kästner decided to celebrate the New Year by dying. The picture is in German, mind, but easily shows the thing we want to know - he's dead.
-
Yes he does. The other thread is located here.
-
2008 has the first Wiki-worthy death of a centenarian with the death of 101 year old actor, producer, educator, and theater administrator Robert C. Schnitzer.
-
We must face the realization that Clive Dunn may indeed be immortal Obviously, voting Dunn is an alternate way to null vote.
-
Salvatore "Bill" Bonanno, mobster and son of Mafioso/2002 DL success Joseph Bonanno, is dead.
-
Does anybody know the verifiability of this? I saw this on Wikipedia, and if this source is trusty enough then it looks like there's finally decent proof for Serioli's death.
-
Yeah, I believe that's true. She wasn't a good choice originally as she may not have had a UK obituary anyway. Plus, whether she's 100, 101, or 110, she's in excellent health. Good thing she's off the list.
-
Yes, this year DL-wise will definately be one more interesting than '07.
-
Well now that we've entered the New Year this also means Salinger is 89 today. If he survives this year and sees his 90th, I wonder if the attention of said event would kill him...
-
No, she'll be turning 91 this year. There are several other people with incorrect ages like Betty Ford and Clive Dunn but they aren't as huge a difference as the case of Zsa Zsa is.

Most Significant Death Of 2007 (poll)
Death Impends replied to chicago103's topic in DeathList Forum
Bernard Manning was bigger than Lady Bird Johnson and Tammy Faye put together. In other words, he was bigger than Lady Bird Johnson. Tammy Faye doesn't exactly add anything weightwise. I voted for Bhutto. This is the way I see it for each of the names that are votable: Anna Nicole Smith: A celebrity. If she was the most significant death, which she isn't, this would be the slowest year ever. Boris Yeltsin: A pretty major figure. He would've been my vote but I agree with Vinegar Tits on Bhutto. Lady Bird Johnson: Her death was only news in the United States, really. Tammy Faye Messner: See above, except she's more minor than Lady Bird is. Luciano Pavarotti: A big death, but entertainment generally ranks below leaders when it comes to significance. Benazir Bhutto: My vote, for the same reason as Vinegar Tits. -
Most Significant Death For Every Year From 1963 To Present
Death Impends replied to chicago103's topic in DeathList Forum
I can name 500 beings who died this year who did more notable things than Anna Nicole Smith. This includes dust mites, mind. -
And you didn't have him picked on one of your "Finely Named Fellows" theme teams on various dead pools? What a shame...
-
I say no. Just an old guy with no known health problems. He's 97, so he could go tomorrow or live another 5 years. He's also boring as hell, which means his thread will consist entirely of "Why is this guy on the death list? He's just old, nothing more, and boring to boot. Wah wah wah." Let's spare us that, shall we? Exactly, if he was 10 or even 5 years younger you wouldn't have even thought of suggesting him.
-
He's outlived three, actually.
