Indeed. It should also be plural, if rendered in French: "passerelles parisiennes" Or it could be masculine, but must still be plural: "trottoirs parisiens" So very much simpler to stick with the English adjective "Parisian". [/pedant]

    The dead of 2016

I've only started two threads as far as I can remember. One about the cast of 'A Night To Remember' and one about Death Songs. Not much to show for eight years

Ah! But theres an X in the top right hand corner of the signature, and if you click on it, you can get rid of the signature! Even better, it gives you the choice of hiding all signatures - or just that one. I think this is quite new. I like it, because I like seeing sensible signatures, it's just the excessive ones that annoy.

Considering the shock that Bowie generated maybe you should take a different approach. Find 20 names of artists in the age range 55-70 who aren't DDP picks and then do a poll to decide who is going to be the next big shock. good idea, bravo sir, i'll do it, got nothing better to do now Why not close this one now? why? has nothing to do with the other one Because it's not very interesting.

    Read Any Good Books Lately?

Well said Lardy. I haven't read it myself, but we needn't be ashamed of the books we read and enjoy. I am currently reading some Jeffrey Archer short stories, but that's OK because I'm not enjoying them much.

    Joey Feek

Not sure I would put Joey Feek in the category of "big named people" Christian country is quite a small niche in that music genre. 1. You coulda stopped the first paragraph where I cut it off. 2. I've been wondering (as I simply refuse to care enough to look it up) whether J+R are country or bluegrass or Christian music category. (WTF is 'Christian Country?' Is that what they're cubbyholed into?) Reason I say this is that another nominee in one of those categories is as bad if not worse shape than Joey so she won't win on the sympathy card as most would assume. Said person shall remain nameless in case beyond comprehension they live 11 months. SC Christian Country is similar to Christian Rock, except that it's country music. Bluegrass is country combined with elements of jazz and English folk music. Good grief. I just had a look. There are so many categories that there could be a prize for everybody!

I voted for Lionel Richie, being someone that I would not miss. You have a point.

He was enormously popular in the UK about 10-15 years ago with the Redwall series. Which ended up as a sort of Watership Down meets Lord of the Rings hybrid. Didn't get it myself but my nephews had them all. Yes, I had heard of him despite not being one of his readers. Much better known here that the dull US university bods and sportspeople that Sir C considers notable.

Despite reading as much as as I do; I fail at this list... Fail how? The list is about books that people claim to have read when they haven't. (I have no idea why anyone would pretend to have read that 50 Shades crap.) I've read just over half, but did not enjoy most of them.
  18. Funnily enough, I'd just poured myself a Baileys.
  19. Presumably not poplar with the sufferers. I'm sure he'll be oak-a. He'd be sycamore of it. Ash ocking thing to be afflicted with.
