I'm dubious about the claim that she'll make a full recovery. I think she'll have a relapse early next year. It sounds wildly optimistic. If they had said something like "It is a slow process but she hopes to make a full recovery" I would probably be more reassured than the everything is wonderful which suggest she might die next week. This could be folk rock's Zsa Zsa unfolding in front of our eyes. What's conspicuous is the reliance on a long-term male friend and a lawyer, it's not like she's greatly surrounded by people who actually love her is it? There's also a fair amount of property and valuable copyrights at stake here. So, in the last case, she's nowt like Zsa Zsa, then. Is it definitely a male friend? I only read the BBC link, and they seem to have avoided the issue, which suggested to me that the writer wasn't sure. Leslie is usually the male spelling here in the UK, but it can be female in North America

Toupee or not Toupee....that is the question
Toast replied to Lord Fellatio Nelson's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I'm suspecting Botox too, they're well old for pop stars now, right? They've collaborated with Franz Ferdinand to form FFS. Bloody brilliant at Glastonbury. Every post Paul Bearer posts in this thread shall be chalked up to irony. SC Hmm, dunno, saw FFS on Later with Jools Holland and that collision of two intelligent but passionate bands works well, IMHO anyway. Haven't bothered buying or ripping the album, mind. Yes, I watched the Glastonbury set and enjoyed it. That's when I clocked the hairdo. I may have "Number One Song In Heaven" at my funeral. One of my all-time favourites If you should die whilst crossing the street? I'd rather die before I awake, if I'm honest. -
There's a joke in there somewhere.

http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=1637&p=230983 Kathleen Staples, mother of Devon Staples, wants stricter laws regarding who can buy and use fireworks following her son's death. http://news.yahoo.com/mom-man-died-fireworks-accident-says-rules-too-205543867.html FFS, he was TWENTY TWO!!!!!!! As terrible as it is her son was a cockwand. I like the quote at the bottom of the article from Democratic rep, Michel Lajoie "They're going to say, 'Well, you can't regulate stupidity' ... and it's true, you can't. But the fact of the matter is you have to try something," Darwin Award material, surely. By the way, isn't there a Darwin thread somewhere?

Russell Mael of Sparks looks a bit suspect these days ... -
Nothing to do with us. It's just the naughty word filter! Lmao I guess they dismantled that fucking filter at some point. How amusing; it's like this conversation happened elsewhere and got pasted on DL. SC It was just a temporary blip, as I recall. Fucking annoying at the time.

A unique pick bonus could be heading Handrejka's way - Holly Woodlawn is very unwell, suffering from 'lesions' on the lungs and brain. This site is raising cash for her nursing care...and funeral I won't ask how anyone would have known of her, much less her. Crazy. I've no business being on the same Web page.SC Each to their own. Surely everyone has heard 'Walk On The Wild Side'. She is far more interesting to me than baseball coaches and presidents of US colleges that I've never heard of. I believe I've been misunderstood. I'm saying that is an astounding selection and I'm not worthy to be in the presence of those so astute. I wasn't being sarcastic. Of course I know the Lou Reed song--not sure how that leapfrogs to knowing that he was talking about a real person, and then find out about said real person. Is that common knowledge?SC Apologies if I misunderstood. In answer to your question, no, it wouldn't be common knowledge imo, but it's the kind of snippet one picks up while looking up random stuff on the net. For example, I was aware that the Holly in WotWS was based on a real person, although I didn't recall the details. I may have read it on Songfacts, which is a site I occasionally visit when a song attracts my interest, and I usually end up looking at more stuff than I went there for, as you do. I stand by the baseball players and college presidents comment though. America's a big place and there are so fucking many of them. I wouldn't even know the names of the current Oxford college masters/wardens/presidents whatever. Now there's a thought .....

How is any of that inconsistent with being an "English gent"?
-
Just to lighten it up a bit, future US President Calvin Coolidge was born on this day in 1872

So .. What Do You Watch On TV?
Toast replied to Banshees Scream's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
You must be one of the only person not to watch it yet... Been watching a lot of Spooks recently. I've never watched it. I've never seen Star Wars or a Harry Potter film either. Me neither (Breaking Bad). Granted that would require satellite TV or Netflix, neither have I. SC Me neither, but I do have a DVD player! It's on Spike TV at the moment (Freeview). I watched the first series and half of the second out of curiosity, but it failed to grab me. Fantastic photography, but the story was the same shit every week. -
Now that brings back some childhood memories. His name often appeared on TV credits and my mum and I never tired of saying it out loud when it did. I had no idea how to pronounce it, and I don't think my mum was sure either, but it was a fun name to say. And he's still alive! Go Harry!

Been To Any Good Gigs Lately?

Anyone who thinks a chainsmoking alcoholic won't die is stupid. Everybody dies some day. Thank you for those wise words. -
Been To Any Good Gigs Lately?

Why, thank you, Mary. No indeed, although I did pick Alex Higgins for my first DDP team. I never did again though, because my friend told me he would never die. -

I think it was the death of George Melly that led to my discovery of the DL. -
Food poisoning from his trail mix SC Drowned apparently. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3136992/Former-White-House-chef-61-believed-accidentally-drowned-New-Mexico-hike-mountain-drainage-filled-runoff-thunderstorm.html What is a "mountain drainage"? Not a term familiar to most UK readers, I bet, and a good journalist would explain what it meant.

They are somewhere at the bottom of this sea: Although, I don't think even Dale Winton's gayer brother wants to see mong-faced ball-kickers locking lips, thanks... Always room for pics of mong-faced ball-grabbers though.

I read this piece about the UK June weather patterns a few years back, and it's been remarkably accurate again this year. Behold... the June Monsoon

This thread makes me feel really old, because I think the first celeb death I remember was Marilyn Monroe. Not that I had a clue who she was.
