Been To Any Good Gigs Lately?

Well of course they closed the tube stations, so transport convenience went out of the window in that respect. Why the hell do they do that! Seems to create more problems than it avoids. Not that it mattered to us because we were headed for Paddington and didn't need the tube at all, so as far as we were concerned, yes it's convenient. They did try and stop us getting there though! Instead of opening up all the exits, they forced everyone out on to Park Lane and away from Marble Arch, refusing to entertain the possibility that not everyone wanted to get to MA tube station. Thought it was very badly handled indeed, especially as in the circs the mood might have turned ugly. I think they have had to reduce the volume level in recent years (and they certainly turned it down further towards the end of the gig). I couldn't see the stage at all and could barely see the video screens because they were too small and too low, and we weren't as far back as a lot of people. Mind you, if I'd had my way we'd have got there much earlier than we did and been considerably closer. What I will say is that they did a fantastic job staging the event at all, considering the state of the ground a few days before. Squillions of tons of woodchips laid over the mud and it was dry enough to sit down. You do have to wonder why no steps were taken to protect the ground before Wireless the weekend before though.

Been To Any Good Gigs Lately?

I was at the infamous Hyde Park gig on Saturday. When the UK dates for Bruce Springsteen were announced, I was quite pissed off that there was no "proper" gig in the midlands or south, anyway we booked for HP. (Very much regret not making the effort to go to Paris or Dublin, but never mind.) Atrocious venue, far too many people, sound way too low and you all know what happened at the end. Other than that Bruce and the band were terrific and there were some special moments, my favourite being . And what a song it was! never heard it before but what a cracker. Got the chance to see John Fogerty as well, in fact Bruce came on stage to introduce him and later joined him to play "Rockin' All Over The World". I also told somebody to shut the fuck up and they did, which was very satisfying. Other than that we weren't too troubled by morons around us.

I was absolutely convinced I picked him for the DDP this year, but maybe I put him down as a sub, which he often was in football. Must've picked Ronnie Blackman instead, who I've now found out, is very well, retired, in Hampshire. Irrespective of my mind being muddled, it's a very sad loss. RIP Also led to rumours that it was Mickey Rourke who had died.

    I'd still shag him though.
  12. The Dead of 201X thread is useful as a reference guide, but only if complete. So surely everyone should get a mention there.

FFS, That means he died in 4 different places. Ah, but he also appeared in Corrie, Eastenders and Pobol Y Quim so maybe his death should be listed in the Betty Driver Memorial Superstar Soapstar thread. It is.

    The Dead Of 2012

This should go in the poetry thread as well. I can really relate to her poem 'Just In Case': Just In Case I’m going to the sea for the weekend, in a couple of days I'll be back, so I'll take my little brown suit and a blouse and a beret and carry my mac. But what if the house is a cold one, the house where I'm going to stay, no fires after April, no hot drinks at night and the windows wide open all day? I'd better take one---no, two cardys and my long tartan scarf for my head, and my chaste new pyjamas in case they decide to bring me breakfast in bed. And what about church on the Sunday? I could wear my beret and suit, but if it were sunny, it would be a chance to wear my straw hat with fruit, so I'll just take a silk dress to go with the straw and a silk scarf to go with the suit. I'll just take my jeans and jumper in case we go out in a car, and my Guernsey in case we go out in a boat and d'you know where my swimming things are? D'you think I should take that black velvet in case they've booked seats for a play? And is it still usual to take your own towel when you go somewhere to stay? I had thought of just taking slippers, but they do look disgustingly old, I'd better take best shoes and sandals and boots for church and the heat and cold... I daren’t go without my umbrella in case I’m dressed up and it rains; I’m bound to need socks and my wellies for walking down muddy lanes. I’d rather not take my old dressing-gown, it is such a business to pack but ‘spose they have breakfast before they get dressed I’d have to have mine in my mac. I’m going to the sea for the weekend, In a couple of days I’ll be back, So I’ll just take my little brown suit and a blouse, two cardys, my long tartan scarf, my chaste new pyjamas, my straw hat with the fruit, my silk dress, my silk scarf, my jeans, that jumper, my Guernsey, my swimming things, my black velvet, my towel, my slippers (no one need see them) my sandals, my boots, my umbrella, my socks, my wellies, my dressing-gown, no, not my dressing-gown, OK, my dressing-gown and a beret and carry my mac.

    Not Seen Any Good Films/movies

Nor me, although my daughter is currently studying forensic science at uni, I suppose I really should take some kind of interest in it. You could do so by committing some interesting crime. Murdering an actor in such a show should do nicely. regards, Hein He'd get no points for that, though, would he?
