I quite like Sequester. If I get another dog I might call him that.

I just bought a new telly. From Richer Sounds. Didn't even look at Currys. Good luck, Lardy. They'll be sorry they crossed you.

    Mark E Smith

BBC4 is showing a repeat of this tomorrow, 10.30pm The Fall: The Wonderful and Frightening World of Mark E Smith Documentary exploring the history of the Fall, the enigmatic British post-punk band fronted by Mark E Smith, who died last month. Emerging from the Manchester punk scene during the late 1970s, the Fall underwent numerous style and line-up changes, with the only persistent member being frontman Smith, whose acerbic wit and biting lyricism became one of the band's few constant trademarks. Featuring footage of the group's last Peel Session, and contributions by Paul Morley, Tony Wilson, Stewart Lee and Franz Ferdinand.

Been To Any Good Gigs Lately?

Only at festivals when he does a short set of predictables. Vienna, Fade To Grey, If I Was, etc.
  7. The bus seemed to hit him one hell of a smack too, and after all that he just gets up and nonchalantly strolls into the Purple Turtle bar.
  8. This is one tough dude. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-43006191 (To clarify, it's the victim who's tough)

Depends whether any of the hacks have him in their DDP teams, I suppose.

Whose idea was it to call it Ten Little Indians then? Or was that just a US title? <wanders off to Wikipedia> Well, that was interesting.

Historical note: I read that book when I was about 11, under its original title of Ten Little N-iggers. Amusing that the politically correct title that replaced it was later itself deemed politically incorrect.

    Georgian Deadpool

Yeah, blessing in disguise really. I watched a doco about the Duke of Kent (Prince George) the other day. Never knew there was a crew member who survived the plane crash!

She still wouldn't abdicate. There would be a regency if she was unable to carry on, as with George III and the Prince Regent. She shouldn't feel she has to go on till she dies, but she made that promise and she won't break it. If her Uncle David hadn't upset the applecart, I bet by now they would have followed other European Royals with the sovereign allowing him/herself to retire. But there is still a stigma attached to abdication for the BRF.

In one of the only two threads that I have started on here, we are keeping a watch on the cast of A Night To Remember (1958).

There's nothing wrong with a good prose piece. No need to dismember it in the cause of "poetry".

This is something that always gets up my nose. While prose can include some 'poetic' phrases, splitting up a piece of prose into uneven lines does not make it a poem.

Might also be worth checking Find A Grave from time to time. The dates will rule out a lot of candidates.

Might there be a nerdy film fan site somewhere that focuses on particular films?
