Things To Do While Waiting For Death
Toast replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
A quiz for Tolkien readers/watchers. TripAdvisor reviews for Middle-earth https://www.sporcle.com/games/beisaa/tripadvisor-reviews-from-middle-earth Enjoy! -
My mum is no longer with us, but her presents to me were habitually the sort of garment which suited her style, but not mine. My gifts to her were often earmarked to be given away to somebody else she'd forgotten ("That'll do for So-and-so") She did once give me a beautiful 1920s edition of The Rubaiyyat of Omar Khayyam, so that made up for a lot.

Just saying, like (Mind you, Tom Petty played that gig this summer.)

No, looks like she's just upgraded from the Mail to the Times. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-5017843/Vanessa-happiest-dying-woman-Britain.html

According to that article he is having chemo. “They gave Dean three to six momths back in January, and early February,” she said. “That’s nearly a year ago. He’s been up and down since then, it’s been a real rollercoaster. He had months of chemo and then we looked at alternative treatment and that has made a difference. He’s back on the chemo now and it’s just a case of how long can we keep going. “I’m thankful that the scan he had in December showed that the cancer is ‘stable’, so we are taking that word as a positive. We’re doing quite well in this fight .... .... “He’s so up and down with the chemo, it’s honestly horrendous. Now, we don’t feel like victims, and all you can do is keep fighting. Sometimes it feels like it is winning, sometimes not. But we will keep going,” she added.

Nah, it's just because Mary's an Aussie. They wouldn't be interested otherwise.
-
I get that's an Australian site, but they have virtually ignored Crown Prince Frederik, who is the actual heir to the throne! He'll be the King. Princess Mary will become Queen but only as a consort.

Indeed. I had a theme team a couple of years ago called 'Long Shot Kick De Bucket' featuring people not known to be especially ill or old, but whose demise might not come as a total shock. Maradona was in it.
-
There's also a meta-joke there in that we all pretend to have forgotten that Peter Falk has Alzheimers.

My rule of thumb is not so much whether I've heard of them, but would somebody I know have heard of them? I might not be familiar with someone in a narrow field that is outside my knowledge and experience, but someone down the pub on a Friday night might well be. Scientific types, for instance. Or actors in a popular TV series that I don't watch. I also think people with less-than-household names can qualify if the context is there. For instance, Nobel Prize winners. Or: "Who's John Wetton?" "He was in King Crimson. And Asia." "Oh, yeah, I liked some of their stuff."
-
I never watched Bread and haven't watched an advert since the invention of the remote control.
-
I might not bother with a theme team this time. Unless something inspires me.

Getting married. New album.

I don't think there are any "reality stars" on the DL. But perhaps you meant that some have been suggested by posters here. I agree that the sort of people one tends to find in the Daily Mail sidebar of shame are often not "Deathlisty".

Was it only 12 days? She certainly seemed full of life.
-
What's all that about it "getting out into the public domain" that she had to raise money for treatment? She had a bloody GoFundMe page, didn't she?

Yeah, he was in A Night To Remember too. Not too many cast members left now. https://forums.deathlist.net/topic/8124-a-night-to-remember/ -
So How's Your 2018 Shortlist Looking?
Toast replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I think it's quite clear that he isn't sure, so fair enough not to name the person. -
I've been there, Phil. So sorry.

Joan Collins ultra glamorous British actress and Hollywood star

It is all very worrying. Young people are being indoctrinated that having sex with your OH when you didn't really feel like it is on a par with, well, what I call REAL rape. Why won't these people accept that there is a huge gulf between minor misdemeanours and being violently raped by a stranger? How do people form relationships in this peculiar new world anyway? Harmless chat-up lines and tentative overtures seem to be taboo now, and fancying somebody in your workplace seems to be a sackable offence these days. I despair. -
Not sure if this is strictly ironic, but it's certainly bizarre. Man killed in cemetery by 95-year-old driver
-
She may even be eating horse's arse now. Very nutritious.
-
Hardly, it's just a role for an actress. There can't be much between that and the lesbian storyline in Brookside anyway, I'm sure that was around the same time. I used to watch the soaps back then. As an omnivore, I'm smirking at this: 'She has also completely changed her diet. She says: “I was a vegetarian, but I had to start eating meat again." '

Good for Joan. It's so depressing that the meaning of the word paedophile is well on the way to being changed through misuse by the ignorant. Soon we won't have a word to describe the real perverts who prey on babies, toddlers and pre-pubescent children.
