Death Anniversary Thread

Matthias Sindelar, arguably the greatest pre-war footballer, died from a faulty chimney/was murdered by the Nazis today in 1939. -
Seems he did die on Thursday but his parents held off on announcing the death until today. Presumably because they figured it'd get lost in the press if they'd announced it on Thursday? RIP Mark Sims. He was truly an inspiration to others, as even when he knew his life was about to end, he still fund raised money to help other people with the same disease. Unfortunately, he had to pass at such a young age, but as Billy Joel once said, only the good die young. That song is about how hard it is to fuck Italian girls if you're Jewish.

Something I only just noticed: the Evening Standard was left off the list of QO sources this year, but not added to the list of former sources no longer accepted. I presume as it's still in print and has a 900,000 circulation it's good?

Finally DQSP are off the blocks this year. Can't believe I had a family member die this year before a team pick.

My dream is that we one day get a sitcom or a low-budget buddy comedy starring Martin Mull and Bob Balaban.

It's like a generic catchall curseword in Finnish, it literally means "devil" but it used in the same way that Poles use "kurwa" or Italians use "porco dio".

one dead Gerry Adams & Martin McGuinness

Ill, lives in Belfast and now has to watch Arsenal! This reminds me of a forum I used to be on ages ago. 7/7 to be precise, and a thread was started with a "oh shit London's under attack" message and obviously continued into the play-by-play account of the terror atrocities of the day. A large number of the forum's users were London-based, and people were desperately waiting for everyone to check in safely. One poster did, but their partner didn't. 11am rolls around, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm.... still no sign of them. The boyfriend posts "she took her Arsenal scarf to work with her today...", to which someone else responded "let's hope she's a gooner not a goner!" She died on the bus that got blown up. Great times man, great times. -

A goner by April. Could have topped the Drop 40 if he'd come clean a few weeks earlier. -
Loalwa Braz, who provided the vocals for Kaoma's late 80s global chart smash/wedding reception irritant "Lambada" has been found dead inside a burned out car in her native Brazil. She was 63.

Bringing this thread back to its intended purpose of where we can watch key deathlist figures in action on the box, Sikh funster Jagraj Singh will be hosting a fundraising event on Sikh Channel this Sunday at 7.30pm. As you undoubtedly know, that's channel 829 on your Sky box.
