His pickled onions are good, imho.

I'd have a tenner on Dire Straits playing a gig together by 2020, if only because they must be up there as one of the most mystifying exclusions from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (one of the biggest selling albums of all time, Proper Guitar Music With Bass And Drums, nothing remotely controversial or dodgy about them, got endless MTV play back in the day and still rock out AOR radio in 2015) and they'd have to go through "Walk of Life" et al on stage once to be inducted.

During his appearance on Norm MacDonald's podcast he didn't stop talking about death for the whole hour, the guy is obsessed with it.

William Hill offering the following odds on these bands playing a gig together by the end of 2016: Evs Spice Girls 4/1 Westlife 4/1 Oasis 6/1 ABBA 6/1 Guns N Roses (to play with Slash) 8/1 Roxy Music 10/1 Wham 16/1 The Kinks 20/1 Cream (Clapton and Baker) 25/1 REM 25/1 Dire Straits 50/1 The Jam 50/1 Led Zeppelin

The whistler from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is still with us: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alessandro_Alessandroni. Turned 90 this year. -

Do they have to be films Hugh Grant is actually in? -
English literature, and yes I did live in the suicide tower of Bowland (15th floor, nobody leaped from it in my year there although we did get one hanging).

Remember him this way:

sad to hear - one of my abiding memories of Indietracks 2013 was watching Camera Obscura after a biblical downpour forced them to move the gig from the main outdoor stage to the engine shed. Not a good year to camp! As a regular DDP player, it would be hypocritical of me to tut-tut. But I know Carey and this is desperately sad, and however much I compartmentalise, when things get this close to home the whole deadpool notion loses its appeal. Underachiever, please try harder.

When I was at uni in Lancaster he used to drink in one of the town centre pubs, forget its name. Anyway, we went in there specifically to watch him drown his sorrows the day after he was fired from his radio show for referring to a female caller as a "daft nig-nog". Great times.

Hey Carey, I'm ready to be heartbroken

Frank van den Bleeken update: http://journalistiek.npo.nl/dossiers/mensenrechten/370_35957-belgische-zedendelinquent-met-doodswens-lijdt-uitzichtloos-in-gentse-cel Google Translate summarises this as "nope, he ain't dying".

Assuming Denise Marshall gets her Guardian society section obit, this would put The Living End back on top of the DDP for the first time since....?
-
Isn't he still making adverts for those "frozen meals for the elderly" companies? Anyway, a good Ronnie Corbett impression is an essential tool. Up there with being able to do a good Jimmy Stewart or Jimmy Savile in my book.

Do we have a thread for details of which celebrities have been utter cunts to you while you were working in a service capacity?
-
Was hoping this thread was bumped due to the news that Pakistan is to hang a paraplegic while he's still in his wheelchair.

Kenny Lynch ain't looking too hot either.

Now does he mean he has Barrett's oesophagus, or he has oesophagus cancer caused by Barrett's oesophagus. The former means nothing to focus on. The latter would definitely put him on a proper watchlist.

All you need to do is know you're going to die in the next calendar year, pick yourself, enter your team, wait until January 1st, make a post on this forum letting everyone know the craic, then email a journalist telling them exactly what's going on and letting them know they can prep a story now in anticipation of your imminent mortality. "WEB SICKO GAMBLES ON OWN CANCER DEATH" or whatever.
-
Plus none of the characters ever got a pickled onion stuck up their arse.
-
Always thought that someone picking themselves as a joker if they were diagnosed with terminal cancer might be a story fucked up enough to make some national press. Plus you'd probably get unique pick bonuses as well...
-
If you add the four double-digit figures in the date of Aberfan together (21 + 10 + 19 + 66), you get 116, the number of children who died.

Interview with DDP pick Jock Scot here. Nothing of particular interest: he's still refusing chemo and describes his condition as "stable". Should apparently have been dead by October last year according to doctors.
